It looks as though I'm not the only one who has experienced a lack of communication from this hotel regarding our refund. This has been disappointing since the hotel looked so nice. We made a reservation in November, 2010, for a trip in February 2011 and our credit card was charged at the time of reservation. In February, just days... More

Stayed here last November and when we booked I'm pretty sure I asked to stay in the Hotel as it was more conveniently located for where I had to be, however when we arrived we were told we were booked into an apartment in the cbd which was kind of annoying and there was no way of changing as the... We stayed here twice - on arrival in Christchurch and after touring the South Island, just before leaving for home. This is not the most elegant place, and the outside does not create a hugely good impression. Inside is another matter. Travelling with 2 teenagers - we had 2 bedroom apartments - which are huge. One showed more signs of... More

We stayed at the Poplars for 4 nights in early October and very much enjoyed our stay. The building itself is fairly old, would have been built in the 50's probably, and was originally an office block. When they were turned into apartments (not sure of how long ago) they were fitted out nicely. Our apartment was a one-bedroom on... More

We stayed at Poplars apartments on 3 separate occasions during our recent NZ trip of the South Island after reading the good reviews on Tripadvisor. We had booked a Deluxe 2 bed, 2 bathroom apartment. We were extremely disappointed with apartment 3A, the second bedroom was so small that to get to the other side of the bed you had... More

Found this hotel through Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the top floor overlooking the Avon River. There was plenty of room for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) and the 2 bathrooms came in handy. The hotel is easy walking distance to all Christchurch's attractions and restaurants. Be sure to... More

We stayed in a Presidential Suite, sits on the ground floor on the Chester St side, was very nice, need to get rid of the CRT TV's though and get some flat screens, the rest of the room was great though, everything you would expect from this type of Suite. We then stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment, again CRT's... More

Dear Lotogunz. Thank you for taking the time to place some feedback with us. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. As a result of your comments about the TV we have replaced this to a new 55" flatscreen TV that is mounted on the wall, increasing the standard that you would expect of a Presidential room. We... I must admit after viewing the website I was a little disappointed with the apartment. Decent sized kitchen and lounge room. Main bedroom was small. It appeared that the queen size bed was placed in the second bedroom and the two single were in the main bedroom which had the ensuite. I don't know why? Hard to walk around the... More
