The Merival Manor complex creates its own private cul-de-sac off Papanui Road with the main house set furthest back and units lining the road into the manor house. We stayed in one of the units lining the road into the manor so this review does not pertain to the main house. Merivale Manor is a short walk from the cute...

It was my first time in Christchurch and I am happy I stayed at Merivale Manor. I had a really nice, comfortable stay here. The bed was good, free wifi and great service. I would definitely stay here again.

I was a little disappointed in this hotel. It is basically a motel. A lot of hotels in Christchurch are motels. It is approximately a mile to downtown. There is not a lot of things to do around the motel.

We were delighted with our stay at Merivale. We stayed in a superior studio which we found to be very comfortable. Made to feel very welcome on arrival and liked the complimentary cereal and bread to make your own breakfast, a nice touch. Position was excellent a very pleasant walk along the Avon took you into the centre. Good to...

Merivale Manor is a beautiful and gracious looking building, and our stay was made perfect by the manager and his wife, Wayne and Karen. Wayne's recommendations for local dining, dinner and breakfast, and sight-seeing around Christchurch were spot on. Karen's touches in both rooms were more than evident. Words like comfort and quiet spring to mind, and the shower(s) was...

Second time staying here. Just as good as last time. Reception did forget to note down that we had checked in so was rang during dinner to ask when we were arriving. People make mistakes, not an issue at all :) Will definitely stay again!

My husband and I stayed one night at the Merivale Manor and we were so pleased with our decision. We requested a quiet room and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a room at the back of the main building and it was so quiet! The hotel is in a charming historic building, but it has modern touches (high...

Far enough out of CBD to be quiet, yet only a five minute away by car. Shopping mall five minutes' walk away. Lovely restoration, and room in old house has high ceiling and original features - but with marvellous modern shower/wet room & well equipped kitchenette.

Comfortable motel room with big bed, kitchenette, fridge, complete bathroom and very helpful personnel (owners?). A nice twenty minutes walk to downtown, and there are also pubs and restaurants around. Perfect for our first night on NZ.
