As a thirty-something traveller in New Zealand, choosing budget accommodation can often be challenging! I've stayed in a variety of accommodation, from really nice hotels, to budget hostel dorm rooms. My preference is usually a private room in a hostel which pretty much ensures me a good night's sleep, at a relatively low cost, with the added benefit of being...

I stayed two nights in a dorm during a haka tour. I stayed in a 6 beds room which was very, very tiny, barely any space to move. Besides this point everything was good and clean, beds are comfortable and with curtains, so you can enjoy some privacy.

Hi there - thank you for reviewing us! Glad that you found everything to be clean & comfortable. Hopefully everybody in your room made use of the huge storage lockers underneath the bunk beds so you had enough space in your room? Also hope you enjoyed your Haka Tour & the rest of your time in New Zealand :)

He was so kind, and the drawer under the bed was convenient. Even though the room is a little bit small, the veranda's antique style small tea table and a small chair made perfect place for thinking about myself. Also, there's two kitchen room so I can freely use it! I definitely recommend this lodge to every young backpackers.

Excellent hostel, bunks each have an idividual light and plug socket and a curtain to provide privacy. Great location only a very short walk to the centre and Ferg burger (the wait is worth it). Nice shower area, very clean.

Good location, not central but qt is small so quick to get everywhere. Bonus was the beds have a privacy curtain, powerpoint and light! Drawer under bed so not messy in the room. Bathroom is more like hotel than hostel :)

What a great little find. We are two ladies, early fifties and on the trip of a life time. We have previous stayed in lodges but nothing compared to this. Great staff, all the comforts of home, comfy clean beds, a blanket to use if required. TV and wifi. Lounge with comfy seating and pleasant outside area. The kitchen is...

This was a lovely place to stay. Clean, great facilities, stylish. My only grumble is the sitting room closes at 10.30....if you would like to stay up watching tv/ reading/ chatting quietly. Other than that its a 5* hostel...
