Hippo is a nice hostel out of the hustle and bustle of the town center while still being only a few minutes away. It's clean, well maintained and has a great view. It's has 2 washers and dryers for 3 & 4 dollars respectively. My only issue was the pathway to the top building smelling quite strongly of diesel fuel....

First off, this had one of the best views I've ever had from a hostel. Great vantage point high on a hill. It's far enough from town centre to stay quiet, but close enough to be there in a few minutes. I quite like that. It's not a party hostel, and unlike most places, they really enforce that. I mean...

We got a private room in the whitehouse for two nights, which had a double bed and a set of bunks. There was one bathroom and an extra toilet between three of these rooms, but we never had issues with having to wait. The kitchen facilities were good too. Stephen in reception was really friendly and helpful and gave us...

Yes, the reviews are correct, the views are stunning up here! I had room 5, which is a 3 bed share and it had the best view in the place. My bed was soft and comfy, though the pillow needed improvement. Mickey at reception rocks and goes above and beyond to help you! I had the lower bunk and could...

This cute little backpackers lodge has a very cozy feel to it. Doesn't feel like a backpackers at all, instead more like a home. It is within very close walking distance to the centre of Queenstown and as it is up on a hill has amazing views of the city and the Remarkables. Most importantly people were very nice here...

I stayed at Hippo Lodge for 9 days back in january. The first thing you'll be amazed by - and the thing you'll enjoy every single day - is the astounding view. It is simply breathtaking. Beyond good looks, Hippo is close to cheap food, it's filled with nice people and the whole place just has a lovely homey feel...
