We stopped in a night before a Milford Sound drive the following day. Easy check in, good facilities. Only thing was hearing people walking down the hallways at different times of the night. But would still stay here again.

I stayed for 2 nights in April in a single room. Haven't stayed in a hostel for many years, but was pleasantly surprised :-) Very clean room and bathroom. Friendly staff. Comfortable. I could have stayed in a cheap motel for a little bit more, but as a single traveller this is more fun and friendly. Would stay here again.

Hi Deborah, it's always great to hear back from people whose expectations were surpassed so thanks for reviewing our hostel! Hostelling has changed a little over the years but our core purpose and values stay the same. Our room with ensuite was clean and functional. The hostel is walking distance to all restaurants, tourist shops and supermarkets. Two awesome staff members in particular went way above and beyond their duties to assist our friends in their search for lost luggage in Queenstown Airport. Thank you again. We really enjoyed our stay with you in Te Anau and plan...

We used the YHA Te Anau as a jumping off point for travel to and around Milford Sound. The town of Te Anau is quite small, and you can see caters for many tourists, as there are lots of restaurants and tourist-related shops. Other than that, it does not have much to offer. The location of the hostel is good...

Te Anau is a really handy stop off point on the way to Milford Sound and the Fiordland but our town has lots to offer for those staying a few days. As well as Milford and Doubtful tours, there are the Glow Worm Caves; the bird sanctuary (showcasing the extremely rare Takahe); the purpose built cinema showing local film Ata...

Stayed one night in room 13, a twin room with shared bathroom. It was in the corner up one flight of stairs. Staff were friendly and check in and checkout were both smooth. Paid 82 dollars because I took the twin room alone. Te Anau is tiny, the hostel is 2 minutes walking through the park to the real journeys...

Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to review our little hostel. We do our best to provide an excellent experience so it's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. We have a couple of different twin rooms set ups - the bunk style like yours and a standard twin. Although the prices differ only slightly, YHA members do...

I have stayed here several times. The reception staff are always friendly. Lovely outside patio and BBQ area, with fresh herb garden. Kitchen and dining room are sometimes rather crowded, but facilities are good. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Spacious, grills outside, great lawn to sun bathe, play park nearby, lakeside just as close, friendly staff, good wifi, free herbs from their garden, can get a little busy, closish to a supermarket (Fresh Choice), and good location to town. Overall top pick for Te Anau.

Very friendly staff, free internet, clean. Not good bathroom and toilet. There is a lot of facilities in the kitchen to prepare a food. Shops and the centre of city is 10 minutes from the hotel. Nice garden with tables and chairs.

Hi Wiesiaso, Thank you for your review and for your feedback, we're glad you enjoyed your stay overall. We'd like to hear more about your perspective of our bathrooms and how they can be improved. What a great hostel. The staff are friendly and knowledgable. The kitchen and tv lounge are super clean and organized. The rooms and beds are comfortable. Book early during high season because it will be full... and for good reason. Highly recommend!
