Wonderful little property. Alison and Andre are great and extremely knowledgeable of the area. I'd highly recommend eating with them. Alison is an excellent chief and Andre was lovely company. The property is a great little homestead that had a fully operating farm. Veggies, chickens(all free range wondering about) ducks, fruit, honey..... they had it all. There is a nice... More

Birds Ferry Lodge is a fantastic place to stay - both the cottage, the scenery and the atmoshere created by Allison and André. We loved it all the way - including a great dinner made by Allison and enjoyed together with other guests. And great Asvalue for money.

Alison and Andre have created a paradise in the middle of NZ's rainforest! You're welcomed at the front door with your names printed on a sign. The main house is beautifully and comfortably furnished. Every creature comfort has been provided in your room which takes advantage of the magnificent views. The property is expansive with paths that reveal surprises such... More

Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Not to many places like this I would imagine. You have to get there yourself and get a taste of New Zealand at it's cracking best. Stars and wine while siting in a hot bath in the middle of nature. Try and bet it. top hosts to match. I'll be back

We stayed here for one night as part of our honeymoon of the South Island, and to break up the journey from Fox's Glacier to Nelson and experience some unique luxury in the wilderness! As with all the below reviews the location was absolutely amazing and the house did not disappoint. The room was really comfortable and views just stunning.... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are very happy that you found the lodge itself and the room, along with our location, to be worthy of praise, but are disappointed that our meal did not live up to your expectations. Dining in a boutique accommodation like ours is quite different from dining in... More

My partner and myself were treated very well. The host were pleasant and the home is very nice. We hear they have a cottage but we stayed in the main house. The room is snug so take advantage of the main room. The scenery was breathtaking. Finally the host were very accommodating and food was excellent. I would suggest you... More

Perfect location. Very relaxing and very comfortable. Alison and Andre are the perfect hosts. The food was superb. Mick and Merlot were adorable. Were greeted on arrival and treated like VIP's all the way. All in all a magical experience, never to be forgotten.

My wife and I spent one night at the lodge in late October. The weather was less than desired but the meals, comradery and lodging was excellent. We went caving and rafting nearby to see the glow worms. It's an hour north of Graysmouth and just south of Westport on a long back country driveway.

We stayed in the lodge for a couple of nights and knew we'd arrived at the right place when we saw a welcome sign with our names on outside the front door- you don't get that at a Holiday Inn! We were welcomed in with a cup of tea as we relaxed on the sofas and chatted happily. We were... More

Just a wonderful visit, stayed in the cottage with wonderful panoramic views. Weather wonderful, excellent meal, AND two outdoor bathtubs, fully functional. Only stayed one night on our South Island adventure; should have stayed a week!
