Detailed Reviews
This hotel was a good surprise for us for the Christmas break we had in Wollongong. Being with a pub, bottleshop I was worried a bit. But the hotel has completely separate entry as well so noise, or pub customers not a problem at all. It gives you the advantage of quick drinks too before heading to bed.
Booking a king size room for family of 4 ( 2 adults, kid, toddler) was quite big, with a large balcony as well for those nice morning coffee.
Location is not quite central, but with a car AND a FREE parking no where is far for Wollongong. Not walking distance to the beach though, but again not an issue for Wollongong.Train station is just outdoors + buses available.
Room size (king) is quite large easily accommodating family of 4 with a cot (not provided by the hotel) . Very clean rooms also as it's a renovated hotel.
Staff is helpful and provide a good service.
I would highly recommend this hotel as it's good value for money with nice new clean rooms.

Took our 3 kids here Saturday - Monday. Lovely place to stay, nice rooms had everything we needed and as soon as you’re in the accommodation area you couldn’t hear a peep from the bistro/bar area.
Lovely service :)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Coniston and wouldn't mind staying there again. Since we had a car, everything in the Wollongong area was easily accessible with a short drive. The room was very clean, relatively quite, and spacious. We stayed in the junior suite, which was very large. Overall, I was very happy with the value and how friendly the people were.

First up - the positives. The rooms are quite nice indeed and the beds great. Cleaning is good too.
The main issue I have with this place is that it is right above a pub. I did not know that when I booked. It seemed like a boutique hotel. Night 1 (Saturday) I was kept up until 330 AM as the music was so loud I could hear it through earplugs. I went down to talk to staff and they did apologise but did not do anything like turn the music down as it was for a 21st. The next night was quieter but I was kept up by people coming and going at all hours. Next night was a crying baby and people opening and shutting doors at 1230 then 330AM. The hallway doors are not soundproofed unfortunately. My ;last night had me woken at 0500 by a crying baby next door then a lovely delivery of kegs below my room with crashing and banging. I did not had a good sleep here and this place is totally unsuited to a good night's rest. It's in a not so great area and is a great spot if you want to get drunk at the pub and stay here, but is not at all recommended for families or those on business. It's also quite far from town.
The accommodation business is also a secondary concern/not prioritised. I was greeted by an empty check-in desk and had to go and find someone at the bar to help. They did not think moving my room was a good idea when I complained of the noise as they told me it would be noisy in all rooms.
I had a balcony room but there was not much to recommend as no real views except of the road, increased noise exposure and there is not much privacy - you can see onto adjacent balcony.
All in all, just be aware of where you are staying. If you're looking for a quiet night and are a light sleeper/value peas and quiet, this is not your place. I left early to find somewhere else nicer so I could sleep. They did not refund me.

Hotel is part of pub that has pokies and meals.
Rooms are very modern and are accessed from seperate area to main pub. Parking is part of the main pub parking.
Staff were all welcoming and professional and check in was seamless with all necessary information provided. Rooms that were upstairs are accessed either by stairs or elevator. Room are very modern looking and are clean and spacious enough. Good wi-fi, and you can't knock having a couple of Tim-tams as the complimentary biscuits.
Did not use any facilities of the pub. There was no noticeable noise or distractions from the pub area or patrons and bed was comfortable resulting in a good nights sleep.
Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel or staying here again if in the area.

We had a family dinner last night. We sat outside but under cover. It was pleasant until we could smell cigarette smoke wafting in from the pokies area at the end of our meal. We were finished anyway.
The wednesday steak special for $20 was really nice, perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere and decor were spot on. Toilets were clean!
Staff were friendly and attentive.
Online membership did not work so unable to get discounts on food or drinks but next time I'll sort it out at the desk or bar.

This place place is amazing. Kerry and the staff are so friendly and made us feel like locals. Our room was extremely comfortable and so stylish and they have renovated this property to a very high standard. We had meals in the bistro on both nights of our stay and the food is fabulous. The young lady that took our booking (sorry I have forgotten her name) was so helpful. See you again soon guys. Sue and Dave

Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Booked this for a short stay as we were travelling through Wollongong. Room was very clean, bathroom was very clean also. No appreciable noise from other rooms or below even though it was during high season. Highly recommended - would definitely stay here again.

Location was perfect for us - cbd was just a few minutes away, the beach was also just a few minutes away. Free parking made a big impact! Staff were very welcoming. Only downside were lag with the tv when we used netflix and the pillows were tooooooooo soft, we used rolled towels so that fixed the problem slightly. All in all, it was a very good experience.

Staff were attentive at reception given Covid constraints. Worked to make it as painless as possible. Full marks here.
Accommodation is on first floor via lift, and wow - what a makeover. Very stylish. We had the 'disabled' room which was quite spacious with a balcony. Although it is a typical hotel room, only the basics and little else. Minimalist comes to mind. But very tasteful for sure
We would stay again, if for no other reason that to try the bistro as we had to do a runner back to Vic account border closures, before we ate there.
There was zero noise in our room from the bar and bistro below.
