The rooms are very big and well equipped and the bed is comfortable. The only problem is the noise from town, especially on a Friday and Saturday night. Some people have to drive around in their loud cars all the time. The window did not block it out enough and in my first room the airconditioning did not work on my last night, so it was a bit warm in the room. When I returned after a Tour, I got a renovated room with a good airconditioner and it was not weekend. As direct booker I got a free cooked breakfast. I did not like the eggs Benedict but the fried eggs and omelette were good and there is a very good buffet with lots of fresh fruit and all the usual. Parking is good in the hotel's own parking area and I could leave my car there during my Tour.

The owner operators of this hotel make you feel welcome from the moment you make your booking.

The rooms were pleasant, spotless and large, and we were lucky to have a room with a city view with a balcony giving us lots of bright natural light.

The breakfast was wonderful with freshly cooked Eggs, spinach extras and the buffet included freshly cut fruit and lots of cereals.

The staff were friendly and made you feel very welcome.

There was plenty of parking at the rear of the property which made it easy when you hire a car.

It was a very easy walk to all the areas in Launceston that are a must to visit

There are so many restaurants and bars and tourist sites that are only a mere five minutes walk from this hotel.

We would stay there again. I would highly recommend it if anyone wanted a friendly great hotel in a good location at a good price.

Balmoral is my favourite accommodation in Launceston. I travel often from the east coast for medical purposes and Balmoral is central to all the facilities I require. The accommodation is extremely clean and comfortable compared to many other accommodation in the region. The hosts are very accommodating and friendly and always give me a warm welcome and show genuine concern.
I have noticed that the property also accommodates sales reps and business people which says to me that the property is good value.
If you book direct you will receive many benefits and you have to try the fully cooked breakfast it certainly is a great start to the day.
I highly recommend the Balmoral on York for travellers from all walks of life that would prefer clean, comfortable and professional accommodation.
Thanks Trevor & Sherryn I will be back soon. Regards Peter

We were made very welcome on arrival at the hotel and that welcome was extended throughout our stay by all staff. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking in the many parks, shopping and enjoying the many cafes and restaurants in the city. Breakfast was included in the room rate with a very good variety of cereals and fresh fruit. A good variety of cooked breakfast was available at a good price. The room was very comfortable and we had a great view across the city. Wineries, beaches and many historical towns and villages are a short drive from the city.m

Great property to use as a base while in Launceston...easily walkable to plenty of eatery options and close to many of the towns must-see locations.
The rooms were spacious, fairly modern and well equipped. It is an older property, so the public areas are not overly fancy but the rooms definitely have all you need! The reception staff we encountered were all professional and extremely helpful with both directions and suggestions for sightseeing.
Parking is free at the rear of the building but it can be quite busy, so we found it easier to just walk to dinner than hope to grab a space late at night.

Great hotel, great overnight. Tim the owner was so personable and helpful. Place is walking distance to gorge, parks, river, restaurants, pubs. The breakfast is huge, continental choices and just a small charge for fresh cooked eggs and sides. Will stay again!

Fridge in 1st floor room did not work, at max contents stayed room temp. Cleaner explained I had small heater so main heating didn’t “need to work”. Nasty to shower under black ceiling mould - a job too much for the room cleaner. Needs professional de-moulding.

We had previously stayed at a grander hotel as part of a walking tour and whilst it had all appearances of its grandeur, I don't feel I got anything extra from staying there. Balmoral may not have an impressive 'all you can eat' buffet breakfast spread, but I'm generally opposed to buffets anyway, and more so now since Covid. Balmoral has a more personal touch, the rooms are a little dated and maybe in need of a spruce up, but bed and shower facilitues were very good and comfortable. Booking direct we not only had the continental breakfast included in our tariff but also a hot breakfast which includes eggs plus 3 sides. Loved it. The continental breakfast was quite adequate and self serve, but my hot breakfast was cooked to order and served to our table.

When a hotel is not part of a chain, you do notice the difference in the staff and owner. All were friendly helpful and whilst not as grand as some, we would all stay again, but be warned it is on a slope but walkable to town centre and gardens etc.

We stayed at Balmoral on York for almost a whole month and Trevor, Sherryn and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a great view over the city of Launceston and their incredible sunsets. We were so well looked after and the breakfasts were amazing even for us vegans.

Being there for a month, we were very happy to have the laundry to use as well as a microwave, fridge, dishes and cutlery in our room to make basic meals.

The hotel is close to the city centre, so it was super easy to get around to all the shops and restaurants.

I would highly recommend this hotel-motel to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Launceston.

We have stayed on a couple of occasions and have found the service right from booking through to checking out to be fantastic.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. With free Netflix.
We opt for the included breakfast and it is always fresh and hot. The selection of bread, cereal and fruit etc is also adequate.
The location is very convenient to the city and it also has onsite parking.
The street front rooms can be subject to street noise which is annoying if you are not used to it - like us :)
I'd suggest booking direct with the hotel and not through a third party website.
It's nice not to be "taken for a ride" on price once you add a child to the booking.
