The Grand Chancellor is conveniently located for shopping, visit to Boags brewery and historic walking. Very comfortable King size bed. A short walk away the nearby Francos Italian Restaurant serve fabulous pasta.

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

For our first visit to Tasmania, we booked two nights at the Grand Chancellor in Launceston. It was a very good choice. Easy to find after a short drive in a rental car, this hotel was one in the grand old style. Greeted by friendly and pleasant receptionist, we were checked in quickly, efficiently without the slightest fuss. Our room...

We had a nice large comfortable room with large twin beds, old décor in bedroom with a nicely upgraded bathroom. Pity about the air conditioner unit - old floor mounted and very noisy. Breakfast buffet had cool not hot food.

The single night's stay was pre-booked as part of a week long tour so no idea of the rate actually paid. Hotel looked impressive from the outside and the foyer was nice. The dining menu was quite expensive as is typical for hotels, which necessitated looking for external restaurants for meals. Rooms were fine. Using the hotel's car park was...

Some minor updates to entrance/foyer since my last stay makes for noisy area when large groups arrive. Very high credit card surcharges for all card types most other hotels don't charge this or the charge % is much less. Dinner menu is good but the deserts are on the pricey side almost as expensive as a starter. One can get...

We found the open lobby leading to bar and restaurant very good for a group of about 40 to naturally flow and gather for our reunion. It was just a natural place to gather and reunite. Lovely large rooms that you could open the windows for fresh air

Fix the air con and not have a air con unit sitting in the corner of the room which was noisy and not effective it was colder in the hallway than the room. We could not sleep due to the noise of the air con

We came to Launceston for a reunion - a short stay only. The Hotel was very convenient and comfortable. It suited us very well. The rooms were great, the bed very comfortable. We slept well, there was no street noise. The only issue was a very nosy air conditioner fan which we turned off without any discomfort. Highly recommended.

If you have to stay make sure your room is not under the main door. The early buses will drive you crazy. Try a few other places first. We were very disappointed and will not stay again. The only good point was the breakfast

This grand old hotel in the heart of Launceston is the epitome of elegance. The rooms are spacious, the foyer is beautiful, the staff are kind and courteous, the location is perfect. I will always stay there when visiting Launceston.
