This grand old hotel in the heart of Launceston is the epitome of elegance. The rooms are spacious, the foyer is beautiful, the staff are kind and courteous, the location is perfect. I will always stay there when visiting Launceston.

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

For our first visit to Tasmania, we booked two nights at the Grand Chancellor in Launceston. It was a very good choice. Easy to find after a short drive in a rental car, this hotel was one in the grand old style. Greeted by friendly and pleasant receptionist, we were checked in quickly, efficiently without the slightest fuss. Our room...

Tgerevare portable air-conditioning in the room, no spa as advertised. Avoid the resturant, poor quality meals. Check in was useless, I had to ask if there were any special pricing for breakfast as it wasn't offered and no WiFi password wasn't given Evan after my booking said free WiFi

We stayed a few nights in a renovated room. It had the bathroom like a contemporary inner city pad, a main room/living area like a 90's 5 star room and a hotel lobby like something out of the 70's. Bed was comfortable enough but the airconditioning was a noisy free-standing unit vented out through the front wall of the room....

We stayed here 'cos it was close to a venue we were having a function at and from the last stay years back, thought it may have improved, but alas... it was not to be. The Grand has a facade that tell of better old times, but long gone. The rooms are pretty average and although they have made a...

Bed was very comfortable, location was amazing. Price was affordable, especially after I joined the rewards club. I will absolutely be back another time. Carparking was convenient, although cost an extra $6 per day.

Great staff. Huge bed and very clean room. Highly recommend. A minute walk to city centre. Restaurants very close just walked around the corner. Went to the Princess Theater for a show just a couple minute walk. This hotel is central to everything you need. Car parking next door for $6. Roims very clean and bed very comfortable. Staff were...

We had a great time in the restaurant. The waiter told us the menu was new. We found the offerings varied and tempting. Service was good. A requested dessert, which was not on the menu, was promptly delivered to our table. It was a 'take' on the original but modernized, and it was delicious. We didn't really check the wine...

2017 and no air-conditioning. The portable units provided are inadequate and too noisy to allow for sleep, and for rooms at the front of the building, if you leave the window open the tiny bit permitted, and the curtains open, to get some air, the noise of the nearby disco late at night, the tour coaches early in the morning,...

We had stayed in the Grand Chancellor in Hobart, which was wonderful, so we thought the The Grand Chancellor in Launceston would be the same. It wasn't. The staff are friendly and efficient, so this is no reflection on them. The bedroom in Launceston........no ducted air conditioning, no extractor fan in the bathroom, just a portable air conditioner in the...
