Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
A small and decent boutique hotel bang opposite the Maafushi ferry terminal. Though it boasts of sea-viewing rooms, the views are obstructed by large palm trees. Decent outdoor restaurant setting for meals. They have an indoor seating arrangement for buffer options as well. Rooms were small but clean with good quality toiletries provided. The serving and housekeeping staff were extremely friendly and really tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurant has a separate Indian menu as well. The hotel is located on the only main Street of Maafushi making it convenient to stroll in the early mornings and evenings. Veg food options in the buffet could be better. Buffet spread was extemely limited. The only disadvantage was that it was not quite on the beach though access to the beach was extremely easy. A couple of other hotels were located on the beach and they could be better options as compared to this hotel.

We stayed 5 night at Crystal Sands in Maafushi in April 2021. The hotel is cozy and super clean.
I would like to highlight the incredible customer service and hospitality Crystal Sands team provide to their guests. From the manager Jack, the reception girls, all the waiters, housekeeping and the tour guides, everyone is extremely polite, helpful, and they ask you all the time how is your stay and how is everything going with a huge smile. They take care of you as if you were at home and they arrange everything, no stress at all.
The restaurant is very good, especially the buffet and the romantic dinner at the beach (the set up is perfect).
The tours they provide are amazing, just because they take few people (6/7) instead of other companies they may take up to 20. So for us it was like almost a private tour. I recommend booking the tours with them :) excellent experience.
The hotel is very clean and tidy. PCR and speedboat is arranged by the reception girls at a cost of usd 70pcr and usd 20speedboat.
At the moment, Keep in mind, that everywhere in the island, after the pandemic and being closed for several months, maintenance is being conducted as it can be needed.
Our stay in this hotel was beyond our expectations! Highly recommended!

Great location on the beach front and near to the jetty really makes this hotel stand out. The services are extremely the best, right down from the foods, excursions provided and the cleanliness of the rooms. Our high gratitude is to ALL the staff, whom relentlessly extended their assistance to us from day one until the end of our stay. You guys are awesome. To Jack and the rest, Thank You.

Very pleasant hotel with excellent chefs – the curries and related food were all excellent. We were informed the chefs were from Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. We would recommend eating local and Asian food from these areas – wonderful. We had all inclusive, excellent.
Good rooms, very practical. Staff cleaning the rooms and helping with luggage very friendly and helpful.
The evening buffet included bbq fish – this was a highlight too. It would be nice if the hotel focussed more on the fish – as most people seemed to love it. We waited for a red snapper. Eating outside excellent.
The island has a significant problem with flies. The dump is on the southern side, but it is a very small island. If the island could manage this problem (it is not the hotel’s responsibility), it would make an enormous difference and eating outside would be easier. There are a few mosquitoes, but we used DEET 50. We had no mosquitoes in our room.
Friendly and knowledgeable locals offering snorkel and dive tours, although we struggled to find a trip for an hour or two, everything seemed to be part of a package and large groups.
In conclusion a very good stay and a lovely island with very friendly local people and good food.

Me, my husband and our daughther, 6 years old, stayed for 8 days at Crystal Sands beach resort. I'ts excellent with the best service with very kind and caring staff. The room was clean and nice and the food was very tasty. We booked two guided environmental snorkling trips by boat at the hotell with very good guides who informed us that we should not touch the fantastic coral reefs nore the animals. We saw dolphins, turtles, stingrays, fishes and many more animals. The guides took very good fotos and films of the trips with reefs, animals and of all participants. We got copies of this. We hope to get back soon!

I stayed at Crystal Sands for 8 nights between March and April and it is simply wonderful. The rooms are of good size, they are cleaned every day and the bed is very comfortable. Just a few minutes walk from the beach. Breakfast is good, especially the mas huni, sooo delicious. Very good lunch offers as well, and dinner buffet is also nice. The best thing with this place though is the staff, from the girls in the reception, to the housekeepers, the waiters and of course the snorkeling guys on the Fun and adventure tour. Shafu and Nasir are incredible, they take such good care of you, they are very friendly, fun and knowledgeable and you feel very safe with them even if you have never snorkeled before. A special mention to Nasir who went out of his way to make my stay at Crystal Sands THE BEST. What an amazing guy, a real gem for this hotel. I will definitely come back!!

Ok so this hotel has very basic rooms so if you are expecting a luxurious honeymoon hotel room don’t go here. If you are looking for an inexpensive but superb hotel go here! The staff are really what make this hotel shine! Janice at the front desk was exceptional! I have never received such great service. They allowed me to check in early even though I didn’t ask. When I wanted to book day tours with them they didn’t have what I wanted but they found a company on the island both days for the tours I wanted!! I didn’t have to do the foot work they did! The breakfast was decent and the other food was really good in the restaurant. The most amazing thing though.... I took a tour on the day I checked out when I got back from the tour they had kept my room the way it was so I could go take a shower and relax before leaving for male that night! This was so unexpected and amazing to clean up after swimming in salt water all day. I will be eternally grateful to this team for that little effort that really impressed me. Please stay at this hotel the location is awesome. You will not regret it!

It is a small island and there is one public beach (also called bikini beach). The location is between speedboat pier and bikini beach.
In the tiny island arena and kaani hotel are the only two that are about 2-3 star hotel category others are more like guesthouse. incl. cyrstal sands. The building is noce from outside. the rooms are aged and there are mold at the corners and broken furnitures etc.
We had problems with electricity it is gone several times.
for above 130usd a night price in March, I found it very expensive (before covid we paid similar hotel 60-70 usd only). the prices in general seems to be much higher meanwhile not only this one.
For dinner, 5-10minutes walk arena beach buffet for 18usd is very good offer. hotels own food offer is very limited.
Staff is in general friendly and good.
It is an option if you want to conduct day trips and use it for sleeping only.

Crystal Sand was recommended to me by my colleague who had stayed here last year. Jack and his staff were very courteous and I am very very impressed by their hospitality. They took extra care to ensure that my stay was comfortable and also guided/advised us on the things to do or the places to visit during our stay which made our experience more enriching. Their food menu for all the three meals was very appetizing. They have earned a loyal customer in me and I will recommend this hotel to all my friends/family who plan to visit Maldives.

Me and my wife had a very nice stay at Crystal Sands Maafushi. It might not be the best hotel on the island, but for sure it is the best pricewise hotel. The room was very clean, air conditioning was working perfect, and they solved almost instantly any problem we had or anything we asked for. Breakfast could be more varied but it was ok.
I would definitely return to Crystal Sands someday!
