Detailed Reviews
The team that Owns it are great. Always willing you help you organise your day and organise yours. They also pick you up and drop you off at the ferry. If I had to make a comment, they are about 15Min walk to the main part of town which includes the bikini beach

I had an amazing experience at this hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, providing a cozy and luxurious stay. The hotel's amenities, including the pool and spa, added to the overall relaxation and enjoyment. The location was perfect, with easy access to nearby attractions and restaurants. The complimentary breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options to start the day right. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fantastic and memorable stay!

Went for a mini vacation with two of my friends we booked two rooms for the three of us and rooms were Quite big tidy and clean as we expected. staff from the guest house were already on the harbour to receive us in a vehicle although it was a three to four minutes walk distance from the harbour. received a welcome drink in the lobby till we got our check-in procedure completed although our check-in time was at 12 we've arrived before that but didn't had to wait till 12 that was very nice. Staffs were friendly and helpful always had a smile on their faces. Would love to return again soon.

I loved the rooms are designed - so cool and so hip. They served free breakfast of your choice. Once you arrived, one of their staffs will pick you up in the ferry terminal. Maafushi is nice place to relax and to meditate.

People who usually rea my reviews know that I always write them sincerely...
(to see the only one positive reason of this hotel go to the end of this message)
1- MORE EXpENSIVE than other similar hotel of this island. We booked this "hotel" (its not really that... more than a guesthouse) at 195 usd + taxes, without looking for other hotels before, but some days before our trip I was looking seriously all the hotels of maafushi and I realized that this one was very expensive comparing it to other similar hotel that 3 nights cost around 120 usd +taxes... So I cancelled it and booked another one, closer to the ferry station and to the bikini beach. But Adam "the owner" wrote me and said me that if we booked it again he will give us a great discount "55usd" taxes included (here was my mistake I thought it was a discount of 55 of the 195 usd and he meaned 55 usd each night... and when I checked the price on the net it was 50 usd without taxes so 61,6 usd...) The other hotel I booked was 120
+taxes so around 148 usd 3 nights... as i thought this one cost around 140 usd taxes included and it was the first I booked, I finally cancelled the other and booked this one again but directly to him (so he didnt have to pay taxes to booking...) But when we went to pay the price for the 3 nights was 165 usd... +50 usd of the fourth night because we had another night... total 215 usd. SO around 5 usd more than other hotel of similar quality per night.
2- THEY DONT ACCEPT RUFYA... when we arrived to the airport we change each one 500 euros to rufya , because is the money of maldives and in the bank they tell us that if we change euros to rufya and we dont waste all the money they will change back the money to euros but if we change the money to Usd they wont... but Adam
was the only one who doesnt accept rufya so he give us the 215 usd price in rufya at 16/1usd when the currency was at 15,25.... he said that it was because he has to sell us USD!!! But rufya is his own currency! Non sense! He tell us he has to pay the taxes (22%) in usd to the gouvernment of maldives so I said him I will pay him 22% at 16 (even if the taxes are only 12% because the 10% are for the service) and the 78% at 15,4 but he didnt allow us... he wanna earn more
money, so finally for no arguying more about this matter we paid him at 16....
3- A LOT OF NOISE. Breafast is included in all the hotels of the island, the main problem of this one was that all the rooms were connected to the main entrance where they have the tables for breakfast/lunch/dinner and everything! So from very early... 6:30 there is a lot of noise, people speaking very loud until the night very late... One night I opened the door around 00h30 because I have to wake up early (7h30h for going diving at 8h30) and Adam with other 3 locals were there laughing, smoking and making noise while there were listening to music. They didnt take care of the guests... very bad. (even if they dont live there, they just was there having fun).
4- when we arrived at maafushi... no one was here for welcoming us.... they were a lot of guys of other hotels but no of this one, so we had to ask local people for the hotel... And we were at the point of looking for another one, after 10 minutes a local guy appeared in scooter... me , my friend and another girl... all with our baggaged and only a boy with a scouter? LOL!! In the other island we were before this one, they welcoming at the airport, they guided us to Malé and after to
take a speed boat to thoddoo, they welcoming us there, they picked up our stuff and us with them to the hotel etc.... so very bad Alaka At Maafushi.
5- FAR from the beach and DIRTY AREA- this hotel is situated just in the opposite side of the bikini beach, next to the maafushi prison so it a very dirty area. Close to the hotel they throw and burn all the rubbish of the island so its smell bad
6- the last night I went out of the hotel and when I came back the main door was closed... locked with key... so After knocking the door a long time.... I had to jump the wall... it was funny because I am a little monkey but I dont imagine people doing that so easily... The first time the locked the door of a hotel and they knew I was out because they saw me.
POSiTIVe-
1- FOOD and FRIEnDLY COOKs- the price of the dishes are similar of the other hotel so you dont have to eat here... ( and they charge 22% for taxes and service, in the island you can find restaurant that only harge 16%) but the guys in the kitchen are very kind and friendly and they cook very good, so you will enjoy it. I think, if you finally decide to stay here, that you must try the food. The breakfast is buffet so you have many things to choose its good too.
2- SOME of THE STAFF- the 2 guys that bring our stuff to the local ferry (and pick us from it) are kind too, they will help you with all that you need (info of tours, etc)

I booked Alaka from booking.com , then only few hours after the booking made, the owner of Alaka sent me messages via whatsapp, told that he'll be ready to give any assistance or information.
The staff really nice & helpful. They always make sure the visitor have nice days in Maafushi, by giving any info or offering some helps.
The room was comfortable & very clean. They clean up the room everyday.
I also like the meals. They have a great chef! The food was delicious & affordable.
Alaka also provide free bicycle for the visitors, so I could cycling around the Island.
I stayed here for 2 nights, and I wish I could stay longer.
Being in Alaka is just like being home. :)

The Maldives are naturally gorgeous, but our stay was made extra special and memorable thanks to the team at Alaka. The hotel is new and so the rooms and facilities are great and we'll maintained. Not only were the prices of all the tours great, but more important when we went out for our half day tours, Shiro, Fazi and Aiya always accompanied my boys when they went snorkeling - not because they had to , but because they wanted to show them the many treasures their country had to offer. Kamru (the chef) and mustafa who helped manage the kitchen were always ready to rustle up anything we wanted. Thanks team Alaka. We will be back!
