We are in Maafushi now, 2 familys with kids, at a hotel on bikini beach. We can't get any kind of rest because next to our hotel the mair decided to send excavators to work day and night! It's already the second night with very much noise. They have been demolishing bildings for 24 hous now. Nobody seems to care that people are here to relax and have a nice vacation. The manager of our hotel called the mair, no results.

took the speedboat at usd20 for 30-45min ride from male. 10-15min walking from end to end of the beach coastline not allowed to wear bikini, except at bikini beach. hotels front they provide excursion tours and water activities. prices are pretty standard. buffet dinner lined the beach, around usd15 per pax. ala carte is between usd5-10 depending on food. inner island walkable, there is the prison, police station, school, local council, bank, health clinic..small town on its own. morning u can see locals selling fresh tuna too. 1.5l mineral water costs about mvr 7-9 can be purchased at the local marts.

This is an island you will fall in love with! Like most islands in the Maldives, you can only access it by boat. Once you get there you are met by helpful locals who will transport you to your hotel. This island is tiny so there is literally no need to drive anywhere. The locals are some of the best human beings I’ve ever encountered. They are so kind, helpful & generous with their time, information & just love. So many hotels, restaurants, shops & activities to do. The place is cheap to stay (if using western currency). I just loved it! Neatly fell in love here, lol!

The rooms are nice and clean and the staff at Maafushi village is excellent, friendly, and helpful. The courtyard is covered with sand and it is nice. I’d recommend this anytime especially due to the great staff. They even learned how I like my coffee 😀 Nice place to book!

Not a place to plan your trip around. An entirely ordinary lodgeing house. Situated center of the island, there are views only of adjacent properties. Windows of second floor rooms open on walkway, so curtains must be kept closed. First floor rooms get no sun. Boys working at the hotel are nice, if that’s a priority in choosing where you stay. Otherwise, nothing to recommend here.

We had originally booked a 7 night stay at the water breeze guest house (8 of us for 2 family rooms), although I’ve confirmed a hundred times or more with them and booked a return airport transfer too , they still managed to overbook and that left us with no accommodation for 2 nights !! They offered us their sister property; Maafushi village and as an apology we were also given an extra room for free ( since the rooms were smaller here ) and a half day snorkelling and sand bank trip . Which turned out to be a great day. We actually liked our 2 might stay here at the Maafushi village more than the 5 night stay at the water breeze!! I’ll review this separately.... The manager and the staff at Maafushi village were excellent, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were ok . The courtyard was the best , for breakfast and chilling out ... I’d recommend this little family run guest house for any budget travellers. Even if you get lost you’ll recognise it from the colourful xmas lightings outside their courtyard walls .... Happy holidays:)) …

Arriving in Maafushi was a relief for my friends and I as we waited for 7hrs for the 3pm ferry (we missed the 730am ferry as we arrived by 8am, as this was suggested by our accomodation's manager 😒) Since the original maafushi place was sick and reservations were mixed up (as per his story), he moved us to Maafushi Village (same owner but diff manager) and even gave us a discount for the bother. The reception was buried in sand (i think they're rooting for the beachy vibe. Since our room was upstairs, the luggages were picked up by the nice staff. The room was big and can fit 4 persons. Since we're just 3, theres the big double bed and they set up a spring folding bed for me. Amazingly, folding beds in Maldives have a different support. Its like a mesh underneath and i didnt feel the solid metal (had a very good night sleep becz of that). The bathroom was big too. I loved the sliding door setup for the shower 😱 AC was strong too. Since we arrived late.and wanted to make the most of our stay, we booked a speedboat ride by 2pm. Because of that, we had a filling bfast at last. We strolled on the beach and took pictures of ourselves until checkout. In our way out, one of the staff assisted us in carrying/pushing our luggages to the port area. I wish we could have stayed longer in Maafushi.…

Maafushi Village is a beautiful property at Maafushi Island. This is an unconventional property which gives a real feel of the island and doesn't look like any other hotel in a city. The sandy floor at the reception and breakfast area maintains the beach feel. The hotel manager is very friendly, so is the housekeeping and kitchen staff. They cooked Indian vegetarian food for us. Food is good. The room we got was very spacious and clean. As there are limited rooms in the hotel, guests get more attention from the staff and it also gives opportunity to interact with other guests. This was a memorable stay for me and i am going to stay in this hotel when i visit Maldives back.

A place where tourism and local community life merge. It has much to offer from beaches to water sports to warm hospitality. We didn't feel the need to go to another island to understand the life of locals. It's present in this simple island especially so that we got to experience celebrating eid there the maldivian way. It is a safe and peaceful place for solo travellers, couples, families and friends. Except for the hostile and rude treatment we received from the Icom Tours company there, it still is a place to visit. As in any other places and countries, there will always be some isolated cases of "very bad" people.

The island is small, takes max. 1 hr to move around the island. Recommended for night stay at hotels of this islsnd. From Hulumale to Maahfushi island by speed boat is 45 min. From Male to Maafushi by Ferry is 90 min. Ferry is cheapest but speed boat is 50 to 60 usd for round trip transfer. Clean and clear beaches. Good for beach activities. No beach chair & shower facilities for tourists who r not staying at hotel of this island. Tourist who have less time may visit Vilingili island which is very near to Male. The journey by speed boat was great from Hulumale to maafushi. Restaurant available.
