Detailed Reviews
The lodge has a very friendly owner who very kindly arranged a boat for our transfer from Airport to Maafushi Island for a reasonable rate (150$)
The staff is friendly and helpful. This is basically a couples lodge, We were travelling with children, The breakfast was not a buffet, the hotel is located a bit far away from the beach.

The hotel staff is really helpful and pleasant. They offered us water activities packages which were comparatively cheaper than in other suppliers. We took the half day tour which we had a quite great time with the guide and also other members of the team.Food is moderate. But their packet breakfast is worthy.
One negative thing is they did not serve the in room tea coffee facilities and fruit basket as they have mentioned on the site , in agoda. They also mentioned that they give us a free gift which was not given to us again.
The hotel will be great if the owner was able to keep his word as well.

White Sand Lodge is a very nice place with friendly and helpful staff. They can organise tours and help you with any questions you may have about the Maldives. The tours are well organised and include snorklingquipment, towels, water and evening you need.
The rooms are comfortable and they are cleaned daily. The including breakfast it’s like an buffet and very tasty. Lunch and dinner is available as well. On the rooftop is also a nice seating area.
The local beach and the bikini beach is 3 minutes walk away and other places, like restaurants, shops or dive center are nearby. The ferry/boat jetty ist also only a few minutes walking distance away.
We loved the beautiful house cats and there cute baby’s. They are a good und funny pastime while waiting or sitting in the lounge.

We had a confirmed booking through Expedia and the hotel just refused us the room. they were least bothered that we were roomless in a foreign country.
And after getting a room elsewhere , we made the dumb mistake of taking an excurions package from them. Neither did they cover the promised snorkelling points .They were least receptive to our complaints, not ready to even offer a partial refund and as a revenge plan , they even decided to refuse us our underwater pics taken !! We never insisted on the refund but We begged and pleaded for our pics but they didn't give us that. Worst experience In a foreign country.

Not recommended. I made a hotel reservation, a few days before arrival I received a lying email that the hotel was closing despite still being able to book a room on the same date. Someone incompetent responds to emails. I do not recommend.

It's sad to write the first poor review on this hotel, but the owner, Mr. Fox has cheated us. Its been 2 months, and we have yet to receive our Drone Photos. This cost us almost 80~100 DOLLARS. Poor facilities and services, as well as food. Its better to go for other hotel which serves much better.

Hi,
We went there on dec 27, 2015 to jan1,2016. The stay was very awesome. We went there for honeymoon. Everything is very nearby. Beach is just 5 minutes walk from here. The local beach is visible from balcony. Rooms were very clean. Everything was more than our expectations. You can go to see maafushi prison. The staff was very friendly. Each room have a small refrigrator, kettle, LED with satellite channels, nice almira, carpet floor, AC...etc. Thanks guys for making our stay comfortable.
Regards,
Maninder

Staff: 5/5
Very accommodating! Everyone speaks english and understands well. We only had our backpacks when we arrived but they insisted that they carry our bags. The tour staff were very helpful also especially when diving/snorkeling.
Food: 5/5
Food is great. I love their breakfast choices. We had free dinner since the management knew we were on our honeymoon.
Room: 4.5/5
Almost perfect. Was just surprised that there were no toiletries like shampoo and soap in the bathroom. Nevertheless, the room was very big and the bathroom was very spacious. They also clean the room everyday.
Since Maafushi is a small island, you can go around the whole island in a day. There is also a nearby bank from the hotel and some small grocery stores.
Maafushi is a nice place to stay and experience the local life. Will definitely be back in this place.

The staff at this hotel are what make it an enjoyable place to stay - always helpful, with smiles on their faces.
The room was fine - the carpeting needs updating, but the bed was comfortable and the shower hot. My room opened in to the lobby, so it was necessary to clip together curtains to block the sliding doors so people couldn't look in. For most people, that probably wouldn't have been a problem, but it made me feel a bit claustrophobic. There are only two rooms that open to the lobby, the rest open to a courtyard, so I just happened to be unlucky in the room allocation.
I had half board - breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a mix of foods - there was always eggs in some form and some sort of meat and then other dishes ranging from sandwiches to omelettes, to noodles.
Dinner was either a buffet, with curries and rice or a menu- one night was pastas, other nights were sandwiches and noodles or rice. Overall the food was good.
I bought the package of excursions - $200 for various activities, including a half-day tour, a full-day tour, water sports, an evening cruise, drone photo shoot. I never got the half day tour, drone shoot, or evening cruise. The day I was supposed to go on the half-day tour, it was switched for a full-day one, which I was not informed about in advance. I would have rather had the half-day tour as it was with a better company, and I had made plans to do something else that day.
Overall, I think this is a worthy place to stay- don't let the little things that happened to me dissuade you. The service in the hotel is top-notch. I would probably stay there again if I were to return to Maafushi to see if I had a better experience.
Be warned though- there are two cats that roam the place freely- I love that, but some people might not.

This place just goes to show that you don't need a luxurious water villa to enjoy the Maldives. It was a nice change of pace. The rooms were in good condition and the hotel was small and cute. They are even some cats that you can play with.We had dinner on the rooftop with nothing but the bright stars looking down on us but due to the bad weather we couldn't enjoy the rooftop for the duration of our stay other than that one night. There were bicycles that you could use so after I had breakfast I usually would take one and go for a morning ride and take in the sights. Before arriving I was in contact with Fyco the owner.I like planning things ahead and he was there with me every step of the way with a quick answer, thank you for putting up with me and my insane amount of questions.Maalu was always smiling, once came up to me and said that he would give me a good service, I didn't ask for it but he delivered.Fox and Azan helped me arrange the water sports activities which was fun with no hiccups, the island had difficulties broadcasting the worldcup to the room but they invited me over with all the staff and their friends to watch it at the beach.Maako and Meeraz oh my god thank you so much I was organizing something special for my girl and they did a fantastic setup in my room with dinner she never saw it coming and my girl never hugged me that hard after being blown away by it ! Once again have to mention Maako,my workplace arranged a last minute flight back with short notice so I had to find a speed boat transfer fast, I was freaking out but she pulled out her phone and got me the latest speedboat reserved! Thank you White Sand Lodge for providing me an awesome getaway from reality.

Hi! The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the pier...everything is a 5 minute walk away in Maafushi! Email the hotel and tell them which ferry you will be in and they will send someone to get you. Just wait by the boat, and someone will come. Enjoy your trip!
Its about 6 minutes walk
