Stayed here just one night 18/11/14 on our way to Fox Glacier. Shown by Cheryl to a large double room overlooking the garden and beyond it the beach. Patio doors opened onto a verandah with table and chairs and here we were served tea and freshly made muffins. Malcolm asked if we wanted an evening meal. As we hadn't let... More

We looked at lots of places to stay in Hokitika and were pleased that we chose Awatuna Beachside. We wanted a place that was quiet and had a view of the water. This was perfect. It is very close to town but has much more privacy and our hosts were wonderful. We arrived late because we had stopped so may... More

We returned to Awatuna Beachside and were really pleased that we did! Malcolm and Cheryl made us extremely welcome. Our daughter joined us and was also very impressed. Our seaview room was excellent, as it was 2 years ago, and the gardens beautiful and the sheep and goats are gorgeous too! Cheryl cooked dinner for us and it was lovely.... More

We stayed for one night at the Awatuna Beachside B&B. Malcolm, his son and his daughter-in-law were very friendly and we enjoyed an interesting conversation at breakfast. The room was nice, a bit smaller than we expected, but with a nice garden and ocean view and the garden is simply beautiful and very well maintained. The b&b is alongside the... More

Awatuna Beachside is a charming house situated near the sea a few kilometres north of Hokitika. It is surrounded by a colourful garden, filled with plants and also the owners' eclectic collection of beach flotsam. There are also a number of family pets, which enliven the scene. Our room was spacious, ultra clean and very comfortable. We were welcomed with... More

Malcolm and Cheryl welcomed us with tea and cake and offered us use of their terrace as we had the one room that did not face the sea (the two seaview rooms were already taken). Our room was small but nicely furnished and it and the bathroom were very clean and comfortable. There are tea and coffee making facilities in... More

We recently spent 2 nights here and were delighted with every aspect of our stay.. The room: large, very comfortable, sliding doors to a deck with table and chairs and a view through the garden to the wild ocean! Fantastic place to stay. Up-to-date rooms, nicely decorated. Host was charming and helpful. Garden was beautiful, and full of cool little inventions. Sheep and goat are fun to feed. Kayaks for paddling on the calm river that flows into the ocean just beyond the back yard. Walk down to beach - along the river it seems like all the stones... More
