We stayed at albatross for 2 nights in a double room. Everything was great! The bed was so comfy, with really plump pillows. The shower in the larger shower room was the best shower ive experienced in NZ, so powerful. We didnt use the kitchen much, but it was well equipped, clean and the free tea/coffee/ hot chocolate was great....

One of the nicest hostels we've stayed in. Cheap, fast reliable internet. Nice communal areas. Good quality free tea & coffee. & the coffee was proper ground coffee which was a real treat. Free garden herbs. We liked the emphasis on being environmentally friendly although we did notice the lights in communal areas were left on overnight so perhaps on...

Home-feeling, friendly, small, clean, comfortable, and safe place. I immediately felt welcomed in this hostel. Tastefully decorated. There are instruments/art supplies/books everywhere. The kitchen was big. Lots of places to chill- outside and inside. LOVED my time in Kaikoura because of this hostel.

My stay there went well, but everything went south when I forgot my jacket. My husband and I were traveling through New Zealand, and the Hostel was our first stop in the South Island. The hostel was a bit noisy, but the staff does well to encourage a culture of togetherness, and we enjoyed a BBQ hosted by the hostel....

I loved this backpack! The owners are found of music that you can in the decoration and if you are lucky you can enjoy them playing music and singing. They are really nice and their backpack is really welcoming. All rooms were always clean (bedroom, kitchen, showers, toilets, living room). They provide bikes for free. Ans once a week they...

We were in a 4 person mixed dorm- not much space in room, difficult to get up to top bunks- one bunk didn't seem to have a ladder. Kitchen was grubby, lots of flies due to an undiscovered dead mouse in the toaster. Really horrible. Situation was rectified however when this was alerted to staff and toaster was replaced. Don't...

This hostel was very cosy and relaxed! The facilities were very good and the rooms and bathrooms very tidy. There was plenty of room both indoors and out for sitting and we were even able to use the barbecue. Didn't find noise to be an issue and it is very conveniently located for the beach and town. The beds were...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night in a double room whilst touring the south island. When we arrived we were greeted by the staff member who was friendly enough and showed us around. Our double room had two doors, one that opened out onto the small decking area by the car park. This was very convenient but...

I loved my stay here and if I could I would have stayed longer. It’s a very homely place and it was easy to meet people. The hostel provides all kind of things like bikes, roller-skates, an art corner to create your own artwork, free baking box and music instruments. Even though I can’t play an instrument I very much...
