The title sums it up. The location is brilliant, across the road from waterfront with great views and reasonably close to the seal colony. The rooms have a little bit of the ambience of a Swedish sauna with a lot of timber panelling, but the rooms are clean, comfortable and have everything you need.

After reading reviews about this wee motel I was a bit worried. Our room was perfect! Our hosts were great, the room had everything we needed and the view was gorgeous. I don't need a flash motel and this one honestly (although basic) was better than some of the more expensive ones I've stayed in here in Kaikoura. We will...

This hotel was very basic but right across the street from the water. Had all you would need in a hotel, beds were comfortable. I don't believe they had wifi. You really cannot beat the price being right across the street from the water. This was a perfect location for our first night on the island.

Had a lovely overnight stay. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful offering suggestions of what to do and where to eat. Our room was very clean. Good old Lockwood style timber walls tend to creak a bit though, but bed was comfy. Only limited wifi for free, and I used my quota. Would happily stay...

I booked this hotel for location but alas the night & day we stayed had an unexpected horrible weather with rains and so we were unable to enjoy the view but the room was in excellent condition, spacious and well-maintained. Pam was amazing as well.

The motel itself is somewhat basic and dated. However, it's the location of the place which keeps me coming back (this was my fifth visit). Almost unique to town, this place looks out across the bay to the distant magnificent Kaikoura mountains. Rooms 201, 202 and 203 have the best views, but otherwise the other upstairs rooms are OK, but...

Really nice view.. Lovely basic room. Big enough for a couple and a child. Me and my partner stayed in Dec. Loved the view more than anything. It was clean, quiet and well equipped microwave, kettle and toaster. Free wifi too.

Had a lovely stay over easter. We had unit 204, it is upstairs and on the end looking towards the pier.My only complaint is the out dated kitchen utensils and the sofa- abit uncomfortable. Would go back again and stay in the same room. Very friendly staff as well.

My daughter and I stayed in a one-bedroom unit at Panorama Motel at the start of our Christmas holiday. It was a beautiful peaceful way to start the trip. Gorgeous views from our room right across the water to the mountains. Very friendly and helpful owners. The unit was clean and spacious, and it was a real bonus having more...
