We went to have tea and were treated to a wonderful large meal, steak salad & chips. All was divine. This was 4wks after the earthquake. We with locals were adamant the best way to support the town was spend money in shops, restaurants. The service was prompt as was the meal, the venue is magnificent, we sat outside as...

Beautiful deck with surrounding gardens and streams! Quiet outside but inside the music can get a bit 'up ya kilt'... Yeah I know it's Irish, but hey at the end of the day it's a bed, a feed and a hell of a lot of fun - regardless of its affiliations. Mussels were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Chilli and something...

We spent the night here in our campervan .A pretty setting and very quiet at night. We had dinner (the best roast lamb we have ever had) and sat by the roaring open fire listening to music. It was a cold rainy night so this was the perfect place to be. There is a minimal charge for the van site and...

Good basic accommodation in a beautiful setting. Meals available in the pub on site, Seating around large tables in the pub/restaurant, gives it homely feeling. Friendly staff and only a short drive from the Kaikoura amenities/tourist attractions.

Nice enough rooms with a view of the mountains. Beds comfortable room spacious and clean. Ate in the restaurant, fish was good but the rest very average, a lot of grease. Could be much better. The light outside the room did not work as it was full of dead insects. Never seen that before, although not personally bothered by it....

Stayed as part of organised coach tour. Not expecting a great deal from this hotel but the experience was even worse. When the curtains were drawn closed there were two old insect nests in the pleats of the curtains. The nest fell to the floor cascading dead insects onto the carpet and on closer inspection there were the remains of...

I booked this as a last minute choice, but couldn't have been happier. It may not be the most stylish, but it was clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful. It came with breakfast, a lovely peaceful location. I arrived late and I called ahead, was advised that the kitchen closed at 8.30 but they happily arranged a really...
