The Manakau Lodge located in Kaikoura was the perfect finale to our 4 week South Island Adventure! The modern high quality room and fantastic breakfast were the best we experienced in New Zealand and it's now on our list of favorite B&B's. Kaikoura is a wonderful destination and the Manakau lodge located within minutes of the city offers great views...

The setting for this lodge was amazing, with the beautiful mountains right behind the lodge. We enjoyed the comfortable and modern rooms of this small lodge, where everything was quality - the linen, furniture and bathrooms. We liked that there were only 4 rooms, with only 2 being occupied while we stayed. The breakfast we had here was delicious; lovely...

Many thanks for posting your review, for your kind compliments and helpful advice for fellow travellers. I am delighted to know you enjoyed your stay with us. Last year's earthquake caused considerable damage to our vital highway infrastructure and of course this has been hugely disruptive for everyone. The end is in sight, however - we are expecting the route...

After a dodgy start as our arrival was before the appointed 3 p.m. check-in time [which we had not been advised of by our travel agent] we had a very comfortable stay. The accommodation is excellent [beds are super comfy] and the bathroom was very new and modern. The breakfast is delicious and fresh. Our room had a lovely view...

Neil owns an awesome little lodge here away from town. Breakfast was an event not to be missed as Neil is in his element chef and server. The rooms were very nice, including use of an iPad. We had an early activity and we could get little fruit boxes and yogurts out of the common fridge in the am to...

Manakau Lodge is impressive in every regard! Neil, the proprietor, is a charming host (and BTW, a very accomplished photographer). He goes all out for his guests!! We were traveling with two dear friends. Both of our rooms were spacious, comfortable, beautifully decorated with all the amenities, and had amazing views of the NZ countryside. Neil is a terrific cook....

Thank you for your very generous words. It was a pleasure having you to stay and I very much enjoyed our conversation. Delighted too that the rest of your trip was such a success! You must come back and visit when we are fully fixed up following the earthquake, and see more of what we have to offer!

Don't let anyone tell you Kaikoura is closed. It's not, it's open for business. Yes they need your help & dollars. But it's a great destination. Whale watching is open as are all the restaurants & there are some great ones too. Try the 'Green Dolphin' for one. If you need somewhere to stay then you can't do much better...

Only four rooms, each with a small patio and lovely views, some of the mounjtains and some of the sea. Cordial host, perfect breakfasts, helpful advice on the area ( we were there a few weeks after an earthquake, with some roads closed). QAuiet location, about 5-10 min. drive from Kaikoura center. No doubt, the nicest lodge we have stayed...

Manakau Lodge is only four years old and beautifully set-up for guests. The King size bed is really comfy and the bathroom very well appointed and stocked with lovely toiletries.
