Not the flashiest of hostels or most modern but has a big kitchen, nice gardens, beautiful views in the TV room and the rooms are clean. Easy access to the town and the staff were really nice. Would recommend to a friend for a cheap stay in Kaikoura.

This hostel wasn't what I had in mind, the decor and rooms are a bit old and not in the best condition. I didn't have a great sleep here, but the staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is easy walking distance to main street and downtown Kaikoura.

Lovely owners, OK facilities. The rooms (we had a double ensuite) were tiny, not even soap in the bathrooms. But we were offered towels, and the room was relatively clean. Great location (for Kaikoura), next to an awesome cafe. Please could do with a lick of paint, but otherwise good.

Stayed here twice --in a twin room at the beginning of my trip and a double on the way home. Both were comfortable and featured en-suite bathrooms/showers. Although very basic, the rooms were clean and a good value for the money. Close enough to walk into town for meals and site seeing. Loved the little breakfast cafe next door!!!

We stayed in a double room with bathroom. Very basic but brilliant value. Towels included. Very accomodating when we were going to arrive late due to flight delay. The lady who checks you in is so happy and funny you can't help but instantly warm to her. Very clean, quiet, great facilities is kitchen, outdoor eating area and chilling area...

I thought the room might get a bit cold with it having glass sliding doors but it kept the heat well. Short walk from town and from local supermarket. On arrival I was meant to be going whale watching, but once that was cancelled the staff at the time gave me a suggested walk to go on which ended up...

I would give this place a negative rating if I could. **READ THE WHOLE REVIEW. The problem with the hostel (or should I say hostile) is how they reacted to this horrible situation: The third night of my stay a homeless man (very obvious to see) was given a key to my room without even paying in advance. I was...

Great place to stay, the rooms were warm and they had a movie room so another movie marathon took place. Thousands of movies were available and the staff were very helpful. Wifi was once again chargeable. Where isn't? Great place though.

Pretty cool & lovely hostel! Nice place to life and to explore Kaikoura. I've spend there nearly two months. Really good community for a real New Zealand experience. I can definitely recommend it to stay there longer and do work for accommodation!
