We had an excellent stay at these cottages. We had a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Rooms were clean with comfy beds and quality kitchen appliances. Free dvd hire was great. Easy short drive into town and attractions. Owners couldn't be nicer. Highly recommend.

The cottages are a little bit out of town, but don't hesitate to stay here. The owners of these cottages are so friendly. They even drove us into town to help us out. The units had everything you need and they are super clean. Darryl and his wife really care about their guests and they truly go out of their...

A little out of town, but these individual / detached cottages are far nicer than your average motel. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and the grounds are lovely. Really nice to be able to sit outside in your own private garden without being able to see the road!

The first thing you notice upon arrival is the friendly reception by your host. The "rooms" are in fact separate units sporting their own little terrace and garden. The interior is spacious and spotless. The kitchen is equipped to be able to cook for two persons. The beds are comfortable. For those who appreciate a calm environment this is a...

We arrived at kaikoura cottage in the evening and the host was very welcoming. He brought us to our cottage and had kept the heater on to warm up the room before our arrival. There's also a coin operated laundry area in one of the other cottages. Washer and dryer are both available.

We were delighted when we arrived at Kaikoura and saw the cottages. They are well appointed and spotlessly clean with everything you would want for a comfortable stay. The verandah was lovely to sit back and view the mountains or the stars. The cottages are private and the atmosphere quiet. Darryl was a friendly and helpful host. We would highly...

I have had the good fortune to travel widely in NZ, Australia, The Pacific, and USA. I have stayed in every kind of accommodation at every kind of rate. This place is well beyond the average Kiwi Motel which tends to be built cheaply, is poorly maintained, and has owners who cut every possible corner. Lets start with the Motel...

Myself and three work colleagues stayed here during the height of the Novemeber earthquake as we were busy working in the Civil Defence Centre. Darrell and Raewyn made us feel very welcome. Thank you for providing such a pleasant place to stay. I recommend this place to stay as it is still in perfect condition despite the recent quake. I...

My mom and I stayed here several years ago (the choices of time when you traveled to not allow me to reflect this). I was very sad to hear that this area was devastated by an earthquake recently. Please do not cancel your trip in the next few years! The area depends highly on tourist trade and will need visitors...

The Kaikoura Cottages are situated just north of Kaikoura. The arrangement and landscaping means that each cottage is very private. There's a play area for the kids that includes a slide, swings, trampoline and flying fox. The hosts were very welcoming when we arrived. The interior of the cottages look better in person than the pictures I've seen online. Extremely...

“I occupied room 2. Only disadvantage is it backs onto main highway so can get the heavy traffic noise. Any cottage ie 4-6 may be quieter.”
