We took the last room here and got a big room with 2 single beds and a double. It was very clean and tidy. The staff were super helpful. We used the bowls and spoons from the shared kitchen for breakfast in our room, and washed them down there before returning them. The kitchen appeared to have everything you'd need...

After 4 days tramping in the bush, we were so happy to arrive at Saxton Lodge and find fabulous service, large, clean, and comfy rooms, and long, hot power showers - which we really made the most of! Good facilities all round, small balcony to catch the late sun, and a courtesy bus picked us up and dropped us off...

We were impressed with Saxton Lodge and its new managers who are originally from Wanaka. The room was clean and spacious with plenty of power points and a decent size fridge. The shared communal cooking facilities were clean and had everything we needed for a pleasant and relaxing stay.

I must admit the this lodge is probably the best one I've been at, this is much better than many hotels, clean and fresh, ive stayed at hotels for 30days now and this place had the best bed of all counting the 4-5 star hotels in Auckland and Rotorua, the staff (Helen) is great and very helpful.

We were in Nelson to watch the ODI cricket match at the Saxton Oval so the location was perfect as we didn't have to bother with parking and just walk to the Oval. The couple who run the place are both super friendly. Room is spotless and spacious. Unlike most motels in New Zealand, no private kitchen...but a good size...

Clean room with excellent bed, enough room for suitcases, fridge in room, friendly service, slept well. Would come again for sure. It was value for the money. One separate kitchen for all customers, I did not fit in to cook cause one group was there already, room 711 had damp smell that was covered with air refresher ( to me...

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed that you smelt a damp smell which I would like to have checked myself, however we do not have a room 711. If you remember your room number I would appreciate you letting me know so I can follow it up. Many thanks. Desma.

We felt very welcome and Des & Dave were very helpful providing recommendations for restaurants that were open late. We ended up at Speight's, which was great. Motel is fairly basic on approach, but the rooms were clean and pleasant.
