A great spot from which to explore the local area. Alan and Piri were full of great suggestions as week as advice about our upcoming Heaphy Track tramp. We love the herb garden and the overall vibe. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

Arriving at this BBH hostel was agreat experience! We have been welcomed as if we already belong to the family. In fact you feel like beeing in a family the whole time! Starting with getting introduced to everyone we were shown our double room, which was so nice and cozy that we thought of staying much longer in Nelson immediately....

I loved my stay here and Trampers Rest is etched in my memory as my favourite hostel in NZ (i was there for 2 months). This was my first experience of BBH hostels and i didn't know what to expect. I'd booked the single room and admit to being a bit surprised when shown into the little room off the...

I truely believe that home can be anywhere. For me it's more a feeling than a place. In this case you feel at home as soon as you walk through the doorway. It's just amazing how little Jamie treats you as he knows you for a long time from the very first moment, how you nearly become a part of...

If you look for a calm small place where you still be very central, you can enjoy a familiar atmosphere and get best support in your future planning, probably you can't find a better place than this one. The house is very clean, you can use herbs from garden, get homemade fruit bread and you can get in touch with...

There are, according to the current BBH handbook, some 275 backpackers accommodations in NZ. For many years, Trampers Rest has always been rated in the top 10. I've stayed there half dozen times; always - ALWAYS - have I left feeling 100% about every aspect of my stay. (And I am an extremely critical sort!) One of the reviewers here...

We want to thank Piri, Jamie and especially Alan for sharing their home with us and helping us feel at home. Alan has a wealth of information about the Nelson/Abel Tasman area and willingly shares it. It was a real pleasure to stay in their home and share in the peaceful comfort of their lives.

I have thought long and hard before posting this review, but I have appreciated honest feedback here on trip advisor, so I am going to be honest. Like one reviewer said, this is not a backpackers, but a family home. And while the couple and their six year old son are charming and very friendly and helpful, I would have...

Feels like home! Clean and tidy, and the hosts are great. Paid for shared but got a single room with a big bed. Right next to city centre. Too bad I could have spent here only 1 night :-( Good place to stay before hikes, Alan has great tips and knowledge.

An amazing little place which makes you feel like home!!!! BUT BOOK IN ADVANCED!!! Piri, Alan & Jamie are great hosts with always a smile on their faces. Arriving there and being welcomed makes already the difference. You getting a beautiful tour around the small cozy guesthouse and you being introduced to all people are staying at that moment (there...

“The double/twin room has a great huge bed (and it would even fit 3 people). But also sleeping in the shared room is comfortable! But acually it doesnt matter....just a great place to stay....stay for a while and let your soul rest!”
