My husband and I absolutely LOVED staying at the Kohutapu lodge and getting to know everyone there. The grounds and views are stunning, the cooking class was awesome, the food was incredible, and we just felt so welcomed. Of our entire NZ trip, here is where we wished we could have spent more time. We hope one day to have...

I would like to thank the team at Kohutapu Lodge for their outstanding service during a wedding I attended on new years eve. The venue, accommodation and facilities are amazing. But for me the staff particularly Nadine and Karl their passion and commitment to Kohutapu made my overall experience here magical. I will be recommending Kohutapu Lodge to everyone. Looking...

I absolutely loved this place! Was there as part of the Stray hop-on hop-off bus tour and found myself wishing I could have stayed longer. A lot of it had to do with the hosts and what they do for the community. Naturally, the breathtaking surroundings and scenery, warm hospitality, great hangi food, clean accommodation etc were beyond awesome. But...

This place is one of my favorite places ever which has a lot to do with the family who owns it. They are amazing people. Very inspiring how much they do for there community! Here you'll also get a really good Hangi a traditional Maori way of preparing food. You can learn how to make fried bread or how to...

We stayed here as part of a bus tour route, and absolutely loved staying here! Nadine and Karl were such welcoming hosts throughout the whole trip, and went the extra mile to share local experiences and understanding of how their work feeds back to the community. Clean, standard accommodation all set around the beautiful lake, with a large dining and...

This is a perfect place to stay that also gives back to it's local community by introducing tourism. I stayed here with Stray in May. While this is definitely off the beaten track I highly recommend it. There are plenty of activities to do as well. I would recommend kayaking in the gorgeous lake.

You MUST stay here. The family who run this lodge make a massive dinner (in the ground, Maori style), and all the leftovers are given to the school kids in Murupara. That's the town next to the lodge, one of the poorest places in NZ. It's absolutely lovely what they're doing, it made me cry! The rooms are lovely as...

The family running this lodge are doing everything they can to help a disadvantaged but beautiful area. The landscape and history of the area are exceptional and you're truly made to feel part of it. There are many activities to take part in at this lodge; weaving classes, Maori "self-defence" (can't remember what they called it but it looked fun),...

My family and I really loved our two night stay at the Kohutapu Lodge.
