This park is such a huge disappointment. The facilities are so run down it is laughable. Our daughter is leaving with a large cut on her foot due to all the unstable tiles around the pool which one would think is a major safety concern and should be attended to immediately. 1 witches hate around a tile is a joke. No sign to even make pool users aware of the danger. The pool lounges are not even usable as there is no padding on them and 1 bench seat for parents to sit on to supervise. The kids recreational room is basically out of order with majority of machines out of order. They dryers do not work. They have basically only heated clothes. Rooms are not supplied with a drying rack which is a pain having a family of 4. Having stayed at Big4s the standards here are a joke. After reading other reviews I hope management listens and takes peoples reviews seriously. After the 1st day I wish we would have only booked the 1 night. Don’t waste your money.…
Where do I start? Waterpark and pool area has broken tiles and ripped up safety padding and has been neglected over the years. The photos on the website are a monument to what this park once was. None of the dryers in the laundry work even after running clothes for 2 cycles ($4 per cycle) so that was $8 get warm wet clothes back. Womens toilets hadn't been cleaned in 4 days which was evident from the cleaning schedule on the door not being done. Toilet and shower doors not being lockable. During our stay we lost power a total of 8 times and when reporting the outage was told that the safety switch keeps getting flicked and they don't know what it is. The camp kitchens are also not maintained to any degree although we were lucky and had a lot of courteous campers in the park during our stay who all cleaned it well after use. Whoever is running this park needs to go and visit some of the other parks in the area and take note of how things should be. Management just seems to be happy to take your money and give you a slack apology which doesn't really justify the huge price that they will sting you. Oh and the recreations room for the kids is 90% out of order. The sand flies here are out of control but there's nothing the park can do about that. OVERALL the park is in really poor shape with a long long list of things that need to be addressed from the amenities through to management. You would think with the Covid closures that this place would have made sure everything was up to scratch especially being a large chain!…
Would never come here again. Toilets and showers that don't lock. Days without bathrooms signed off as being cleaned and when it was cleaner was only in there for 15 minutes to clean a whole ladies block. 3 days without water. 3 power outages in 2 days. Powered sites not visually marked out so people know where to park their vans then after asking for help just being told ohhh they must have worn off. Unhelpful staff driving past a man bogged and didn't even offer assistance. Just utter lack in care for their patrons.
We have just checked out today and while our stay was enjoyable and the cabin was large and clean there were a couple of issues that we raised with the staff. Firstly we had no hot water for the duration of the stay and a burst pipe under the cabin. While the pipe was fixed the hot water was never restored as the gas bottles were empty and were not replaced . Secondly at some stage during the night the tap in the bathroom would not turn off and was continuously running we had to turn to the water off during the night. I understand the park was busy and maintenance takes time but for what you pay per night for a cabin we shouldn’t have had to use the amenities block. We mentioned this while checking out and didn’t really get a response from the staff member we told.
Booked in July 2020 for our December stay at Discovery Parks , as we have a large set up I always call to discuss a site that will accommodate our needs. At time of booking i chose a spot from the map that looked large enough and then called to discuss as we have a 7 metre long tent, Gazebo, 7 metre boat and a duel cab ute. Many other parks have been able to put us on a site and have always been happy. 93 is on what looks to be a large corner site and powered, Admin advised that 93 is not a site that is able to be booked however we could have 92 and use part of 93 for the boat. We were thankful for the offer and booked our accommodation. Upon arrival we pulled up to a slab site which we clearly told them we has a tent and the smallest site we have ever seen, as for 93 there was no way our boat could parked there as it was a hill and not wide enough, there was also a coffee van on the slab of 93. I approached Management twice, first to complain about the site to be told they are fully booked and can’t move us and the second to advise the boat will no go on the small section they said we could use, Management pointed to the back side entry of park that is not secure and said “ Park your boat over there". I told them this is not acceptable as there is no security or gates protecting that area and the fact is that we had been assured our set up would fit on the site. Again we were told sorry we are fully booked. As this was our first visit to Airlie we didn’t want it ruining our holiday so we made it work but was not an enjoyable experience. The park is so run down the pool is disgusting pavers from the edge broken, the slide barely holding together the water so cloudy. Very disappointed we would not reccomend this park to anyone. We have booked too go back to Airlie Beach staying at another park.…
