pros- location as it's right in the city centre, ocean views, less than 2 minute walk to the ocean, restaurants and shops/ woolies are at your doorstep, complimentary new release movie access from TV, modern facilities, friendly staff and daily room service (new towels/ soaps etc.). cons- non-sound proof rooms so you can literally hear everything (neighbouring rooms and noise from council carpark directly outside), if you have your own car you have to pay $10/night for parking and size of rooms considering the price you pay. overall, really glad we stayed here for 5 nights and would recommend to anyone who wants to be central/ near the beach :)
My husband and I booked a trip for the new year which was cancelled due to COVID-19. We really wanted to go to the Whitsundays and this was the only place that had a room, so we booked even though it was a queen-sized bed. Once the trip was cancelled, we were told we would have a credit and needed to book again by March. We are now trying to book, and as queen sized rooms are now a third of the price they were in Jan, we thought we would use our credit to get a king-sized room. The hotel is adamant we still have to stay in a queen and refuses to honor the full credit we paid- a difference of THOUSANDS of dollars. There are plenty of king rooms available for the dates we’d like to stay so it’s not an issue of availability- they just don’t think they have to honor the original credit. I’m absolutely disgusted by the business practice and will be filing a complaint as well.…
Positives include movies on demand, central location and early check in. I found our room to be entirely unclean, there was a layer of dust over most parts of the room. Really disappointed with basic things like a clean toilet bowl, cups and stains on pillows. The curtain was coming down (as pictured). Would not recommend staying here.
Only had a two night stay but were very happy with our stay. As mentioned in other reviews rooms are small but of a high quality. We received a warm reception when checking in. Rooms are clean and have everything you need in them, we even received a welcome gift which was a nice surprise. Rooms also have a small balcony. Great location in the heart of Airlie plenty to see and do within walking distance from the hotel. Just a heads up there is no hotel owned parking however there is a council car park at the back of the hotel and is roughly $10 for 24hours.
First thing rooms were very very clean which was good .second think the view of the water wasn’t really there the view that I had was of a public car park .third thing not good when you’ve got 2 park your car outside in the open and pay $10 a night which the management thinks is a good deal,4 thing the room didn’t even have a chair so you could sit down and check your emails I had to sit on the floor to check my emails. I wouldn’t advise anybody to stay there. Not worth that money. I offered to pay for an upgrade to a bigger room but unfortunately there is no bigger rooms. Don’t go by the photos you see that’s where I went wrong.
