I recently stayed at the Empire Hotel and I was lucky enough to have the owner, Mark, spend time with me, searching for platypus in the Meander River. What a special day! I was bowled over by Mark's offer which was way more than he needed to do. Great location, excellent meals and a really nice room. I would recommend...

Thanks for the feedback. It was a pleasure taking you on a platypus hunt. I'm always happy to take people out to see such a special animal.

The Empire serves up some of the best pub food you will find. We visited twice as the meal and value was so good. They would put many restaurants to shame. Well priced, food with an Asian slant. Very friendly and helpful staff. Not a huge selection of beers but OK. One night (can't remember) they have an excellent and...

Wonderful place to stay, the building is full of character and the staff were excellent, extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room was as expected, clean with plenty of space and very homely. We loved the bar and café and enjoyed a very country experience. Well done Mark and Mandy..

We stayed a couple of days in Deloraine as a base for exploring the area and on our way to Cradle Mountain. Meals were excellent and staff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. The pub is lovely old building with lots of character and beautifully appointed rooms. Shared bathrooms were spotlessly clean and modern. We will happily stay there...

Stopped in Deloraine for lunch today and surprised to happen upon Empire's pub menu. Surprisingly interesting food. The lamb kofta was both substantial and tasty. Side of chips with garlic aeoli nice too. Halloumi salad, gourmet burger (with Angus beef & blue cheese), and plenty more to try another time. Delicious and clearly a spot for locals and visitors alike.

The Empire Hotel certainly does nice meals and the staff were indeed very pleasant. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy, but my quibble with it was that the booking page did not make it crystal clear that the bathroom would be shared, so I was kind of taken by surprise by that when we arrived. Other than that,...

First day in Deloraine and walking up the Main Street when a very polite guy who was placing flags outside the hotel invited us in and suggested they had the best meal in town. We finished our walk and decided to take him up. We had a meal that evening and it was exceptional. Mark and his wife were the...

The hotel is right in the heart of town and easy walk to discover the delights of this lovely town in Tasmania. Our room was extremely comfortable and dinner was delicious. A shared bathroom but it was spotless and the size of a ballroom!

Here is a place to stay if you need a little friendly local chat while chilling having a beer and dinner. Mark and his crew made you feel welcomed. Room upstairs was very comfortable. It's not for everyone to have shared bathrooms, but the common room with telly and breakfast is good to meet other guests staying. Meal was great.

Stopped in here for a bit of a pick me up on our way home after a long day shopping in Launceston. It was pretty late in the day, so rather than coffee decided to have a lady behind the counter said she didn't have much experience making them , but she did a great job. Service was great and...
