This was an unforgettable experience for our family when traveling from El Peten towards Guatemala city. The beds were very comfortable with nice mosquito nettings for each bed. It was extremely hot when we arrived around lunchtime, unbearable hot but till evening it cooled off real well and they had fans in each room! The food was good. **Bring mosquito...

My wife and I, and our three kids, ages 10, 12, and 14, stayed at Hacienda Tijax after taking a 5 hour bus ride from Guatemala City to Rio Dulce. We spent two nights and then took a boat ride down the river to Livingston. When we arrived in Rio Dulce we called Tijax and they sent a water taxi...

A natural and ecological hotel. A place that takes care clients and nature at the same time. Best food in town. The place is big and by saying Eco, doesn't mean you don't have air conditioning or a pool.

We stayed at Hacienda Tijax for 3 nights, in one of their cabanas. Having stayed in a few cabins in Guatemala and Belize, we were very impressed with ours here - it was clean, airy and comfortable. The beds came with spacious and nice mosquito nets already put up. The hacienda has great grounds to explore, and it's set up...

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Hacienda Tijax. The complex is large and easily accessible by boat (which you call the reception for) from Bruno's Restaurant just underneath the Rio Dulce bridge. Facilities are excellent, including a very refreshing swimming pool. The accommodation is wonderfully unique, the cabins being built upon stilts above a mangrove swamp, connected by interconnecting...

The initial impression of this hotel is one of delight- set up on stilts above the mangroves with the approach from the river you are greeted by a welcome drink and warm smiles from the staff. The room we stayed in was comfortable with en suite toilet and shower and we settled in to what we hoped would be a...

Goodness, I was greeted by two baby tarantulas in my cabin! Of course I expected to see, uh, some "friends" in my room but I didn't really think I'd have two big spiders ( they maybe baby tarantulas but if your domestic spiders give you a fright, well...) But I had good friends who came to my rescue and I...

We stayed for a couple nights as part of a road trip for Semana Santa. Awesome hotel, the kids loved all the wooden walkways over the mangroves. We were two families of 5, with rooms right next to each other. More then enough space for us (both families' youngest was 4). Rooms were well kept, and the fan and open...

I enjoyed one night at Hacienda Tijax, with a very nice cabin, with AC, hot water, and a different kind of rooms. The bed was a little bit like a rock, but in general was good. The pool is nice and the restaurant has a good menu.
