We were welcomed with big smiles when we arrived. We got settled into our room and showered and changed ready for dinner in the homestead. We had some excellent food and a really good Pinot Noir to accompany the beef. The bed was extremely comfortable, which is the most important thing in a hotel to ensure a good nights sleep....

We had a fabulous time and wished we could have stayed another night! The rooms were extremely clean with very cosy decor. There is an option to have dinner at the homestead but we chose to go into the town. We wished we had taken the dinner at the homestead when we tasted the breakfast the next morning! Breakfast was...

On our way to the Fox Glacier we stayed there only one night. The house is decorated very tastefully. So was our room. Staff was friendly and the breakfast as well with hot and cold dishes. We had a good time at Awatuna.

This is a wonderful place to stay! We were there only one night but wished we could have stayed longer. Breakfast was amazing - homemade granola, banana bread, savory muffins and hot dishes! The owners are very warm and welcoming.

There are many reasons to stay at Awatuna Homestead. It is located near Hokitika an absolutely delightfully history packed town which was recently put on the map by a now bestseller. The food at Awatuna was delicious and the chef delightful. It is very near a beautiful sea shore. But the reason we loved staying at Awatuna the most was...

Host Elana, greeted us at this special B&B place and settled us in for a 2 night stay. It happened we had some wet weather and our host fired up the open fireplace and we were happy reading and relaxing for half a day enjoying the peace and quiet as Elana brought us beaut nibbles and drinks as it rained,...

The winding entrance to this property ended in an extremely quaint homestead. We were a party of four and our bedrooms on the first floor were beautifully furnished and the beds were comfortable. The shared bathroom could not be faulted. The only draw back was the access by a set of steep stairs and the freight train that thunders by...

I thought we had already experienced some of the best accommodation in New Zealand until we stayed a Awatuna Homestead. This was simply the best place we stayed with every kind of facility you could wish for. Set in very tranquil grounds away from the main road we had afternoon tea when we arrived. The hostess then offered to provide diner...

We had a great stay in Awatuna on 12 Feb. The hostess Trixi was great and made ourselves felt home the very minute we arrived. We had a great dinner there. We (2 couples) had rooms on the ground floor and the rooms were reasonable sized and clean. We loved the gardens and at the suggestion of Trixi, we walked...

“There is no pool-checked in error. Rooms are small but very nice and comfortable. Toiletries and a hair dryer are provided in the bath. Visitors may use the sitting room with a lovely fireplac and plenty of reading material-Perfect!”

“There are a range of rooms available - it is worth talking to Hemi when you book to get what you want. I have stayed in the studio which has 2 small rooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. It is upstairs and more independent from the main homestead areas so you can eat and cook for yourself if you want. The second visit we stayed in the Stafford Room which is on the corner of the house on the ground floor and has a wonderful garden outlook. All rooms are quiet and have their own bathroom facilities and space to move around. You can then sit in the host's living room or kitchen at meal times and after meals to relax or talk.”
