We arrived into Langkawi from KL on the 2nd January 2020 after celebrating in KL we wanted a nice relaxing week in Langkawi.
Upon arrival to the hotel checkin was fairly quick and easy, as there were a group of 5 of us we were offered a suite rather than 3 separate rooms which we accepted as this was beneficial for us. In the Queen Suite there was a large living area with seating area kettle, cups and fridge freezer. Each of the 3bedrooms has a separate bathroom and shower and toilet which was great.
We had a couple of hiccups in the room such as a toilet blockage and also one of the bathrooms having no hot water, however these were fixed very quickly. The rooms and cleaned and fresh towels given daily. There is also a trolley near the breakfast area who gives you fresh towels to take out to the beach with you which is a brilliant idea!!
We tried the complimentary breakfast on the first morning, 3 of us ordered boiled eggs whilst the other 2 had the omelette. The boiled eggs sadly were sent back as they were massively under cooked the lady who changed them was so apologetic and immediately changed them. However when the new ones came back they were the same undercooked. The toast is also not to our taste it seemed to of had something sweet on top of it what was it?? It would be so much more simpler and enjoyable which just butter. This was fine as breakfast was complimentary and it being so cheap in Langkawi we eat out from then on every morning.
The beach is only a stone throw away can easily be walked too and restaurants are on your door step. Great Indian Restaurant next door which is fantastic.
We also used the laundrette to clean all of our clothes and this was so cheap. Being away for nearly 3 weeks we needed clean clothes.
Supermarkets next door along with money exchange.
Overall I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to anybody else.
The hotel has just celebrated its 1st birthday so everything in the hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff are fantastic they can’t do enough to help or make your stay enjoyable.
Thank You to the staff who made our stay at the hotel a fantastic one!!

I would recommend this place to anyone as the rooms are a good size, comfortable and very clean. I would also say that it is great value for money and the staff are some of the most friendly and helpful I have ever come across on my travels, they literally cannot do enough for you.
The location was ideal for us with the beach just a short walk over the road and the main town a 15 - 20 minute stroll. There are convenience stores and bars and restaurants on the doorstep too.
The only downside was the pool being shallow but does the job of cooling you down when required and the breakfast was not that impressive for us.
It is also a fairly quick, cheap and easy transfer to and from the airport.

Stayed at the Royale Chenang from Feb. 19-25, with my family. The family suite was big and spacious with three large bedrooms and a cozy balcony. My kids really enjoyed the pool which is very friendly and safe due to the shallow water.

The breakfast is great with a good variety of local and classic dishes. The beach Pantai Tengah is within a 5 min walking distance and they always have beach towels ready.

But the best thing about this place is definitely the staff being helpful with nearly everything. Always smiling and ready with advice about locations, trips, etc. Can definitely recommend this place and would love to visit again if we are coming back to Langkawi.

Surprised how clean resort is. They employ best cleaners in Langkawi. Room design is very modern and works well. Lovely small pool would be safe for kids. Reception staff is excellent. One of the cheapest hotels in this area as have no direct beach access- public beach is across a road. So makes it very good value for money as you will pay 2/2.5 times more for another hotels in the area.

Stay at Royale Chenang Resort for a short weekend. The place look small from outside but dont be fooled by it. Once you walk inside, its totaly amazed. All building are English-housing design with a garden. Enviroment and vibes is beautiful.

My room are located on first floor, look over the paddy field. The room are cozy and comfort with full amenities. Is totally value for money to stay with 130MYR per night(without breakfast, but its doesn't matter, just take a 3 min walk to Cactus Restaurant near by for a great English Breakfast)

Bed is comfort, Bathroom is clean with hot water shower, safety box, iron and ironboard are provided in the room, the A/C is working perfecly.

Overall, is totall value for money to stay with.

I read reviews on Trip Advisor about how clean this hotel was before I booked. I am guessing they changed the cleaners because it was filthy! It looked like it hadn't been clean in months. The cleaners seem to just change the sheets, too up the toiletries, mop the floor and move in to another room.

It is truly the most grubby and dank space I have stayed in.

Management really need to inspect the rooms before guests are given their keys. The wall and doors are thick with grime, black grime and dirt, skirting boards were thick with dirt and dust. Lampshades are thick with dust. Remote controls are greasy and stained. Doors have stains on them that simply rub off with a damp tissue. Even the kettle power cord was dusty. How is it possible to say that a room has been cleaned and to leave there things? Clearly they do not have a rota or checklist for cleaning. It was disgusting. I've always thought Malaysia was a place for clean hotels until I stayed here. It is so sad that a hotel's good reputation will be ruined by poor cleanliness.

I was glad to move to the next place so I could get a shower and feel clean.

Stayed for 5 nights in a standard deluxe queen room. Room was modern clean and tidy with great rain shower, nice patio area and all the facilities you would expect (Tea/coffeee, safe etc). Beds very comfortable too.

Coice of 6 different meal 'sets' for beakfast which, of the 3 or 4 I tried were well presented and tasty, especially the Nasi Lemak.

Beach/pool towels provided and friendly staff aways willing to pass the time of day.

The only downside was the pool. Uniform depth of only around 1m and metal ladder to get in and out had only very narrow steps which proved very tricky and, in my opinion, could prove dangerous. Easiest way in and out is to climb up the sides.
In my experience this problem seems quite prevalent in hotels in this area.

All in all though I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Booked the junior suite (with 2 rooms and a small living room) as we travelled with 2 kids. The room was located at upper unit. The staff was very helpful to carry the luggages up. The room was overall Ok, though some refurbishment seems very much needed. It is clean and tidy anyway, air-cond working well, the pillows are very comfortable. But then we had this problem with the unit we stayed in (6201). That less than every single minute there was noise of the water pump/machine. It was quite irritating and my wife had problem sleeping at night.

On the final night, we complained to the staff who was understand and kind enough to switch us to 2 separate room at ground level which were available.

There are free breakfast, good enough with 2-3 options everyday, like Nasi Lemak, fried rice, and fried noodles. There are bread, cakes too, along with an egg counter that servers omelette and scramble egg only. Free orange juice, coffee and tea are there too. The swimming pool was good, not very deep though I think only about 1m, just nice for small children.

Arrived early Jan for two week stay. Very smooth and staff very friendly at booking in. The rooms aren’t massive, but big enough. Nice bathroom with excellent shower. Air con was first class. Nice quirky balcony. The rooms are very clean, and the cleaners ( fresh team ) are very good. All the outside areas in the hotel are also very clean. The swimming pool is shallow, but great for a cool off coming back from the beach. If you lucky you will see the monkeys in the trees at the back of the pool area. The breakfasts are ok and if you ask they will do things differently to the menu. Could possibly do something different with the breakfast menu. The best thing about Royale Chenang has to be the staff. They can’t do enough for you and are very polite. On one occasion one of the staff gave me a lift on his bike as I was going back to the hotel and then took me to the restaurant I was going to. In fact the best hotel staff I have encountered. Hotels is only ten minutes walk to the nearest beach and twenty minutes to town. There are plenty of bars and restaurants just outside the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location is fabulous, near the Yuan Spa, wonderful eateries, a laundry. Short ride to the beach area. The suite for 6 had a rather small living area. Although the hotel is considered new, the maintenance was poor. Housekeeping was very poor, the previous travellers left a set of bikini hanging on the rails and it was merely left there for days. Towels has strands of long hair stuck to it. Cockroaches aplently. Shower head falling off. It is disgusting as some have shared. Quite a pity. Saving grace was the friendly staff who came to help us check out with our luggage, and prepared take-away breakfast when we had to check out early.

Hello, I would like to say you won't see any but it is a tropical island and there are gecko's etc. We only saw one while we were there and that was by the restaurant none around the bedrooms or the pool. We went onto stay at the hard rock hotel in penang and saw more and water monitor lizards but they are not often seen. Langkawi is a wonderful place and you will not notice gecko's as there are so many other great things to concentrate on. They will not harm you and are more scared of us so if you do spot one it will only be for a second as they will run away. Have a great time.
