Whomever designed these hotel rooms did an excellent job. They were well thought out. Comfy bed. Very detail oriented. From the low lights to the personal local touch. Great room. Our only complaint was that we couldn’t figure out how to get the shower temperature to warm up… but we were only there one night so we did not say anything. Important to note that parts of hotel are under construction but it didn’t bug us. The rooms were excellent.

San Juan water and beach club was just ok for the money spent. They have a way to go before they are great. Let’s start with Customer service. I think this is their biggest opportunity. While most of the staff were pleasant, there were a few bad apples that spoiled the bunch. There was favoritism going on at the hotel. On the beach I had to say hello to the staff member handling beach chairs 5 times before he looked up from his phone to acknowledge me. Then he told me my chair couldn’t be put up farther closer to the water even though there were a group of girls from the hotel who had their chair closer to the water. When I inquired about why mine couldn’t be moved up he said “well they are friends of the manager”. That’s unacceptable. Also no manager ever asked how our stay was when we saw them on the beach or in the lobby/elevator. The only time I heard from a manager was at checkout time with a “friendly reminder”of what time checkout was in a personal text when I had already checked out. But no mention of being sorry for me being double charged for the security deposit! Another thing that happened was that the ice machine went out. When I called down for ice I suggested that a staff member could go to a store to get ice for guests because that is part of making our stay comfortable and part of the HIGH resort fee. I was then told by the rude front desk girl that I could go to the store to get ice!!! Totally not the service I would expect at a hotel that portrays themselves as a high caliber hotel. If people visit the hotel hoping for a relaxing, resort like experience they will not get it here AT THIS TIME. I really hope this changes. The room doors and walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything said in the hallway no matter how quiet people try to be. The room cleaning each day was lack luster, none of our toiletries on the sink were ever replaced and our shower was never cleaned! We were there for 8 nights! That’s unacceptable. Overall I expected more from this hotel. I did like the tiny welcome drink. The bartenders at Kumo weren’t super friendly at first when we went especially the lady with the bob haircut with bangs. Seemed like she had no interest to help us. I asked about the happy hour specials and she was so short on her response. Also why do the lobby signs say happy hour features food and drinks but there was no food on the happy hour menu. The hotel is close to restaurants and bars which is a plus.

Although Water Beach Club is under some construction upgrades, it is cleanly, service is top-notch and were were treated wonderfully by all staff! The rooms are absolutely stunning with a modern-beach feel. The shower was gorgeous and humongous. My husband could do his yoga under the rain head. There were awesome chairs and umbrellas at the beach for us each day. Fantastic location on the beach!

We stayed one night at the hotel on 3/10-3/11/24 after our flight was cancelled. When we got to the hotel, it looked like a war zone from the outside. The inside is renovated in many areas and what is done, is lovely. The issue we had was that the work started outside our window/ directly next to us/below us/ above us/at 7am. After a sleepless previous night, we looked forward to some respite. Instead, there was pounding, drilling, hammering, workmen talking. It honestly was outrageous. When I booked this hotel, there was no mention of renovations going on. I spoke to staff and they talked to management. The only remedy offered was to deduct the resort fee and tax equaling $61.00. I have emailed and called multiple times to request more substantial compensation and each time the manager is “unavailable” and emails have gone unanswered. To make this more egregious, they never did compensate us for the “resort” fee and tax. On Monday, there were big trucks and a crane. There was sitting water in front where the drain was clogged that smelled like sewer. It’s disappointing that this hotel doesn’t own what a miserable experience this was and offer customer service. I’d probably consider going back someday when it’s done, but they obviously don’t care if they have my business or not. I hope they realize that reviews matter and they might be trying to create a new image, but right now their image stinks.

This hotel needs small improvements. The decor and ambiance is gorgeous. The restaurant is good but they do not offer room service. The roof top pool is extremely lack luster. The customer service is horrible and employeed by children. Security no where to be found on busy nights makes the stay very uncomfortable.

I had a Blast! Great service from the top of the stay to the bottom. $250 hold for incidentals fyi, which is common with hotels. My room had an amazing Ocean View. I loved the decor and the fact that they offer small handmade souvenirs made by people right there in the island in the room. The roof top Experience at KUMO was a great way to bring in my birthday dinner at sunset overlooking the ocean. Live music with a DJ. The Food was infused with so much taste. Everything cook to order, small plates, somewhat pricey. The Bartending staff (Liz, Luiz, Adrian, Rafael, Gabriel) was the very best I’ve ever experienced, their carefully crafted and delicious drinks were an experience all in itself. What they do is artistry both taste and presentation. The area the Hotel is in has various restaurants, bars, hookah/cigar lounges, strip club that are open late.

I would wait until they get finished with their renovation. Suffered delays in and out with only one elevator operating. Strict check in and check out hours Arrived very late and had to leave by noon next day after paying full price…not even flexible to extend by 1 hour! Continental breakfast did not include coffee.

Major construction going on but location, view, and service is A++. We had a “balcony” room for 4 days, Thur-Monday, in January, pre carnival, for $2,100. Booking directly with hotel. Room was absolutely beautiful, clean, great design. “Balcony” I’m torn on. Negatives: They placed us on the 5th floor, 1 floor directly above the construction. Every morning at 7am sharp construction was going on all through the day. It’s LOUD and balcony is not useful. On weekend days no construction! Balcony is more of a full sliding window. About 9 inches to 1 foot of standing room on balcony. Positives: Service! View! Hotel beach staff, food service on beach! Once construction is done I’m sure the price will jump 50%. For guess who stayed during construction, we should get a % off to return.

Room Tip: Avoid allowing them to place you on 5th floor. Elevator is down to 1 so be ready to wait.

First of all, the entire property is under construction. Walking in was terrible - hauling luggage into a back alley, steel entry doors and no buss boys. Elevators were broken and had to climb TONS of stairs. Rooftop bar had hardly any cocktails and over priced. Room remodel is tacky and cheap with grout falling out of the tile, and scabby caulked joints, non sealing windows, and terrible AC. The room was LOUD. Could hardly sleep at all with all the loud motorcycles all night. Overall, this property is OK, but not worth the $400 a night. Beach chairs are stacked up and you have to haul them down to the water, which is a long ways. Nearby resorts are way nicer - don’t stay here!!!!

Pros: Great location in front of the beach, renovated guest rooms are very nice, Vanessa at the front desk was wonderful, desserts at Kumo (which I had almost daily) were limited but delish! Cons: you walk through construction everyday and everywhere (in the lobby, there's only one elevator for 11 floors, they were applying fresh paint to the mainexit door at 10am), wifi is weak and I had to keep reloading, breakfast at main floor restaurant is not worth the money at all - food was below average.
