Villa Allamanda is the perfect place to stay in the Governor's Harbour area on Eleuthera. My wife and I were first time visitors to Eleuthera and found it to be an incredible place to recharge. Jon McCardy is the owner/manager and was an exceptional host. Soon after starting to talk with him you'll find him to be incredibly informative, interesting, and gracious. The room we stayed in was perfect for our visit with a full kitchen and a lovely and spacious garden view porch with some views of the Caribbean Sea. It was simply decorated, but very comfortable and the bed was awesome. We are two practicing physicians and as such have significant times where sleep deficits can build up. We both had wonderful, restful stays and enjoyed very easy access to the numerous world class beaches in the area where you just may find that you are the only ones on a beach a mile or more long (Twin Coves was our favorite and quite walkable from Villa Allamanda). Perhaps most of all, the people of Eleuthera are its best commodity; warm, friendly and fun. Can't recommend Eleuthera and Villa Allamanda enough. Enjoy!

Villa Allamanda is run in a fantastic way by John and his crew. Rooms are cosy and individually designed with island themes. Everything is extremely well maintained including the car rental services provided. John personally spent time with us to help make the overall trip great and his advices made the island much easier to navigate. Place is located on a hillside a 15 min walk from the beach and in close proximity to governors harbors restaurants and beaches.

Villa Allamanda (VA) is exceptional. It is clear the owners John McCardy (an Architect) and his wife Marsha (a Teacher) take great pride in maintaining their beautiful, private, safe, and peaceful property. They are a very friendly, informative couple ready to assist and live onsite for easy access, if needed. VA is a home away from home. Located between GHB airport and the settlement of Governor's Harbour (10-min drive) on the top of a hill with a fantastic 360-degree view from the top floor's breezeway, which included a mild breeze during my stay. The queen studio on the 3rd floor with a view of the Atlantic Ocean was clean, A/C-cool, tastefully, and tropically decorated with a mini-kitchen containing all the essentials (mini-fridge, toaster, coffeemaker, sink), plenty of towels (including beach towels), TV, and more. It is a relaxing place to rest at the end of a vacation-packed or busy day, at a reasonable rate. It stormed a couple of nights during my stay and VA did not lose power (nor A/C) due to the generator installed on the property. Twin Cove Beach, one of Eleuthera's best, is a short 20-minute & worthwhile walk away. While visiting Eleuthera, staying in Governor's Harbour is a strategic move. John also offers SUVs for rent. Renting a SUV to explore all this "Island of Freedom" has to offer is a must. I highly recommend VA and would book it all over again. Thank you, John and Marsha for your hospitality!

The reviews of this wonderful inn are right on point as is the rating much deserved. The owner, John McCardy, is a retired architect and it shows in every detail. We had a king suite which is described as being on the second floor but is in reality on the ground floor, 5 steps up from the ground, and was perfect for us. The bed was extremely comfortable with blackout shades to make for a perfect sleep, and the kitchen was fully equipped with a beautiful deck off of it to have your coffee and look toward the sea. Maybe best of all, after driving the entire island from Spanish Wells to Lighthouse Point, this is the perfect location in the middle of the island. Twin Coves beach is an easy 1.4km drive or 17 min walk and John rents nice vehicles right on site. Also you have multiple dining options and grocery stores within a 10 minute drive to Governor’s Harbour. Unless you want to spend the money to stay at The Cove which is excellent, then look no further than Villa Allamanda

We had a fabulous stay at Villa Allamanda and are already trying to plan a return visit! John was a gracious host with excellent communication. We were able to rent a car directly from the hotel which included airport transportation. The Villa was spotless with beautiful landscaping and fantastic views. Nice amenities including beach chairs and an umbrella for excursions. Definitely needed a 4 wheel drive car to get to the remote beaches but they were pristine and worth it! Local restaurants were very nice, we ate at the the Buccaneer Club and at 1648 on suggestions from John and had wonderful meals. The local gas station/market was great for picking up essentials as long as you get there early in the day...everything shuts down by late afternoon. Snorkeling was great at the Twin Cove beach. A very friendly island and a wonderful experience overall.

This is a lovely, well-managed boutique hotel surrounded by a large tropical garden with pathways throughout. The top floor has panoramic views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean, with a great view of the sunset from the deck. We really liked the unique design and use of colour in our room, as well as plenty of towels and amenities. It is central to Governors Harbour so is convenient for restaurants and sightseeing. The owner is very helpful and informative about the island, and can be reached easily for any issues. He has a car rental business, which was very convenient for us, as a car is needed to travel the island. He gave us a ride back to Governor’s Harbour airport; another convenience. We very much recommend this hotel!

We felt at home right away, right from the rooms being very cute and clean to John helping us with information on the island the second we arrived. If you’re looking to feel very welcome this is it. My wife and I will definitely be back in the near future.

Im a bahamian that decided to vacation at home this year.I choose this property to stay with my husband and i.The host met us at the property and was very friendly and helpful with assisting with information about the island and things to do and where to go or eat.The property was not to far from the main land where you can you have axcess to anything you may need. When i first walked into my villa i was amazed at how spacious and beautiful and colorful decor. The full kitchen was awesome and saved us on having to buy food everyday. The villa was fully equiped with everything you needed including a few items for cooking that we didn't have to buy from the store.omg the view outside my bedroom window was breathtaking to see the ocean every morning when i awake. There was a sitting area outside that was nice to watch the sunset in the evenings. We enjoyed our 4 night stay at this property and 100 percent highly recommend this for your next stay in eleuthera bahamas.

John McCardy is THE best host. Traveling at this time due to airline scheduling issues, as well as being in the throes of hurricane season, my husband and I were very happy to have found this boutique hotel. John is a valuable resource regarding all aspects of the island, which was very appreciated since we were first time visitors to Eleuthera. We stayed here twice, at the beginning of our stay and the last day of our 2 and 1/2 week adventure; the rooms are beautiful; decorated with much detail, functional (equipped with all the extras), and very comfortable. Oh! And....John also offers a car rental service (and helpful tips for the traversing of the island!), of which we used our entire stay. Thank you John for your hospitality! We will return! Steve and Roxie

Villa Allamanda is a beautiful property that offered its guest a home away from home feeling. I stayed in one of the king rooms which was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated with Bahamian art and scenes. It was equipped with cooking amenities which work perfectly for me. It also offered movie options on the television. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. The location is not far from the airport, local bank, food store and restaurants . The view was breathtaking.
