We have just returned from a wonderful
10 nights at this resort. I have rated it a 5 even though there are definitely some improvements to be made, as most of the minor issues were not a big deal for us, I just know they might be for others.

We loved the room - we were in a family chalet (3159/3160) which were in a great location as we could easily walk to the pool, beach and most restaurants without need for a buggy. We loved the traditional style of these rooms, they felt authentic rather than being brand new and flashy - we don’t want or need that in Malaysia. The air con was great, cleaning was good and we were visited by 2 adorable dusky leaf monkeys on our balcony every day. We don’t care about TV channels on holiday. Wifi worked very well, plenty of toiletries, free mini bar - we had everything we needed.

Beach was beautiful (until an awful day of rain which resulted in the waterfall overflowing and ruining the beach and pool for a few days - nobody’s fault and the hotel worked hard to get things back to normal). Reasonable water sports.

Service was fantastic - we LOVED being able to get everything done via WhatsApp to guest services. It was so efficient - they booked restaurants for us, got our safe open within minutes when we were locked out, answered many queries. All hotels should have this.

Gorgeous pool - needs more sunbeds, or at least some sunbed management. It was better towards the end of our holiday when many of our fellow Brits had left, but for the first few days every sunbed would be ‘reserved’ by 9am with people not showing up until mid-afternoon. The hotel should put signs up and remove belongings.

Not really an issue for us, but no evening entertainment as such. The fire show was cancelled due to the storm.

Food - we loved the Thai restaurant, the setting was beautiful. We were also pleasantly surprised by the beach brasserie - the filet mignon was excellent!! Wine was reasonably priced. We didn’t try the Chinese and were not especially impressed by the dinner buffet.

We were not keen on the main breakfast buffet - too hectic, long waits for tables, rude guests. We ended up having breakfast at the beach brasserie most days which was so much better - I don’t understand why more people don’t do this, it was always half empty, a nicer setting, and they bring you proper coffee rather than having to get it from a machine. Slightly less choice than the main buffet but it had everything we needed. Freshly made omelettes were great! The juice of the day was really good but would prefer more fresh juices as the others weren’t great, especially the orange.

We did the free nature walk and absolutely loved it! We saw so many animals we wouldn’t have noticed otherwise!

Overall we found this to be a beautiful, excellent resort and we would love to return one day!

Good things:
This is probably the best located hotel on the island, practically in the rainforest. If you want the feeling of being in a jungle, surrounded by special animals and able to eat all day at a good price-value ratio, then this is the perfect choice :)
We requested a rainforest studio, it is a very spacious room type, we really liked it. If you prefer walking, it is worth noting this in advance to the hotel and they will give you a room that is not at the very end of the resort. We were in 4123, about 5-10 minutes walk from the lobby and pool. (down 5, up 10 :D).
The minibar is refilled daily, which is also a plus. The bed was very comfortable. The pool and beach are beautiful, maybe even more beautiful than in the pictures.
The breakfast has a huge selection of food.
I would like to highlight the kindness of Nasrullah at the pool bar and Amerul at the Thai restaurant. They were the two nicest people in the whole hotel.
The prices of food and drinks are very reasonable. We had dinner 3 times in the main restaurant and 3 times in the Thai restaurant, I think the Thai is far the best. There are vegetarian and gluten free options at every meal.

Negatives:
We expected the hotel and the furniture to be old-fashioned, but sometimes we were really surprised about the conditions of some of the facilities. Furthermore sometimes we felt like they were stuck in the 2000's (breakfast vouchers, hand-writing list at the restaurant, at the pool, thus generating longer queues everywhere).
There could be plenty of sunbeds on the beach and then there wouldn't be a problem that there aren't any free sunbeds for those who don't arrive in the morning.
The staff at Danyan Café is not the best and they are not very friendly. So we went to the Thai restaurant instead, where the service was years better.
Not everyone speaks English well, which makes communication sometimes difficult.
They don't serve any kind of plant-based milk ANYWHERE in the entire hotel, which I think is unacceptable in today's world and especially in a 5-star hotel. After 3 days of craving an iced coffee, I went to all the restaurants, cafes in the hotel and finally at the lobby bar a lady told me that if I buy a plant-based milk in the hotel's souvenir shop (which was 2 steps from the lobby bar), they would make it for me. I don't think that this is the right way to serve a customer in a 5-star hotel.
They often ran out of food and drinks in the pool bar.

Berjaya is rainforests delight! It’s location makes it the perfect stay for spotting all the wildlife of Langkawi, that’s its charm,
It is not a luxury resort rather than a resort offering a level of 5 star amenities. ( amount of amenities) under the star system.
The pool area is clean and well appointed with sunbeds and an adult jacuzzi area, de St put being a large resort, the pool is quiet, the beach is beautiful and quiet with sunbeds located to one side with warm shallow water with a safe swimming area with buoys.
We have stayed here several times purely for the wonder of wildlife.
The rainforest studio - comfortable, large beds, large tv, large bathtub, large balcony to sit for hours at night watching flying lemurs, civets, flying squirrels, flying foxes, monkeys and more.

I have read mixed reviews on the buffet however during our stay we ordered meals at the main restaurant room service and dined at the oriental restaurant, all food was excellent and they catered for my many food allergies without issue. They provide GF dining options also.
Food is extremely reasonable, the room provides complementary drinks and snacks so staying hydrated during the sunny days is not an issue.
We personally love the rainforest studios ( large) over the water villas as you see much more wildlife located in the rainforest.
This is not a manicured luxury resort, it’s a natural authentic rainforest resort with a beach and views to die for!

Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable

I would stay again. Prices are very reasonable!

This hotel is fantastic!
Everything is beautiful, organized, the food is delicious, there are carts to take and pick up guests (there is a cart that takes you to the sky cab, which is next to the hotel, I took the hotel cart and walked back).
As the sun rises very late, I arrived at the restaurant to have breakfast and enjoy the morning colors.
Breakfast offered a grand experience of Asian flavors, with local, Indian, Chinese flavors. There was bread too, but I didn't need it.
The green guava juice was delicious.
One of the hotel staff guided me about the types of food, which was really cool.
It is possible to communicate in English without any problems.
Sometimes I woke up at night to a noise on the ceiling of the chalet, I don't know if it was monkeys or birds.
The hotel has safety recommendations to prevent monkeys from entering the rooms, I followed them, there were no problems.
Unlike what we are used to in Brazil, it is not necessary to buy water to drink, as the hotel offers it, as well as fruit and tea.
I spent my birthday there and wanted to eat a piece of cake, there is one, but it's not worth it, Malaysian taste in cake is incompatible with ours.

The Berjaya Hotel Langkawi is a 30-minute drive from the airport. Instead of ordering a taxi from the taxi rank inside the airport, it is best to use the GRAB app to order a Grab taxi for around 25 ringgit (€6 - varies depending on demand and time of day). Alternatively, you can approach the Grab drivers waiting outside on the way out.
The hotel is a well-oiled tourism machine without being impersonal. It was impressive to see the number of guests arriving and departing at the same time in the large lobby, as well as the confident handling of the reception and the very organised hotel-owned buddy service, which brings guests and luggage to the widely distributed rooms.

The same applies during the holiday: whether at breakfast or at the loungers by the pool/beach, the guests of the always well-booked hotel somehow spread out so that you can always feel like you are on ‘your’ holiday.

Everything is well thought out, the selection of snacks/meals at the Beach Café, the bar in the pool and the pizza oven between the two locations, as well as sufficient toilets and showers. The hotel's souvenir shop sells drinks and things you might have forgotten (sun cream, beach shoes, clothes – in addition to the usual knick-knacks).
As a rule, you don't see your hotel room during the day, which helps to hide the fact that you can't really use the inviting balconies, for example. As soon as you sit down there, the monkeys nearby are on the lookout to see if you want to enjoy the chips or nuts from the included minibar, which is restocked daily. A British woman told us that she was surrounded by 10 monkeys within seconds when she wanted to make herself comfortable with her husband.

Otherwise, the Berjaya is perfect, even for a short break. There is no need to leave the hotel, and a short walk (about 7 minutes) away is the Sky Cab with Sky Bridge. An impressive gondola system (Austrian ski lift technology) that takes you up to a height of 650m and to the Sky Bridge, a truly impressive construction on which you can walk between two hills and enjoy the view.

When travelling to this hotel, you should pack sun cream (the pleasant wind makes the heat seem cooler and can lead to severe sunburn going unnoticed), flat shoes (depending on the room, you may have to walk up many steep steps without a handrail) and a sun hat, so you can fully enjoy the long beach days.

Meals are all resonable priced, of good quality and offer a wide choice - both à la carte or at the breakfast /dinner buffets.

If you want to go somewhere else for a change , you can order a grab taxi and go to Centang but we found it difficult to find a real varity of proper restaurants there, but were very pleased with Yasmin, a syrian restaurant.

Type of Room: Rainforest Studio
Period of Stay: 3 Days 2 Nights

My experience for the stay is not pleasant. The resort has over-rated services and the stay is not worthing the paid price.

The hotel nested in natural forest with comprehensive amenities. They provide free shuttle services from room to hotel amenities such as lobby, restaurants, pool etc. The receptionist is friendly and helpful.

The room is big with minibar refill at daily basis, spacious bathroom and balcony. Yet, the room looks old and not in good maintaining. My room has stiff sliding doors that hardly to slide, dented wooden floor. The running water for bathtub was 'yellowish' and slight muddy.

The room full of insects (ants) throughout the ceiling and the air-conditioning during 2nd night of the stay. Their house keeping took long time (at least half an hour) to react by sending only 2 staffs (with brooms) to the Room. Though they change new room to me after verifying the condition was terrible and not suitable to stay, yet it i still felt disgusting with the scene.

Waiters and waitress of restaurants need improvement for their services. They seem 'racist' against Asians or maybe 'Malaysians'? We paid almost the same price but we got different level of services. "Western guests' got higher priority where they gave better viewing dining table (no special reserve) to them but not in first come first serve basis. They also simply ignore our special requests to them.

Overall staying experience was disappointing

Dear Elise, Greetings from Berjaya Langkawi Resort! Firstly, I would like to thank you for spending your precious time detailing your recent stay experience with us. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the unmet expectations and service deliveries from accommodation and staff friendliness. I am truly dismayed that your stay with us was marred by those incidents. We at Berjaya Langkawi Resort are committed to not allow any differences in our service deliveries based on nationality or ethnicity. I have since spoken with our Director of Food & Beverage for immediate review and correction. Your valuable feedback regarding the room condition and yellowish water has been duly noted. Being a resort nestled in the heart of rainforest, presence of insects is sometime unavoidable. Nevertheless, we do equip our rooms with insect screen, insect repellent and spray to handle such situation. Your observations on the service delivery by the Housekeeping team have been thoroughly addressed. On a positive note, we are excited to inform you that the resort is currently embarked on a phased refurbishment exercise for all rooms. We value your feedback as it helps us identify areas where we can improve our services and offerings. Once again, our renewed apologies for any inconvenience you may have faced during your stay. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome you back to Berjaya Langkawi Resort and provide you with the exceptional service synonymous with the Berjaya brand. Everything was nice, especially the location. The hotel is in the jungle, the smell is amazing, the birds are singing, the monkeys are running, all the chalets are in the shade, there is no stifling heat. It is possible to walk around the property, good cardio training - up-and-down)))) Distance from the sea varies for everyone, depending on where the chalet is located. But shuttles travel around the territory (we did not use them, we gladly walked))) It was not possible to settle earlier, they expected the time.
There are several restaurants on site, we used the buffet - the food is very delicious and varied. Sometimes there was a line at the restaurant. The cabin has everything you need: water, hygienic supplies, fruit stood on the first day, and the minibar is being replenished. The room is posh by Asian standards! Cleaning daily, very clean, eating repellents.
On the beach of small cons - there are not enough sunbeds, had to come early to take up space, lying in the sand is not an option - you can boil! The matter could be regulated, especially since there is plenty of room. The beach is prone to low tides, then the water is knee-deep))) There are water entertainment - you can ride, there is a beach bar and restaurant.
Overall impression is very good, thank the staff for their service!

Really enjoyed our stay here in a family chalet for 5 nights in late September. We were traveling with our 9 and 12 year old children and there was more than enough room. Unfortunately it rained most days when we were there so we did get to spend quite a bit of time in there! Although the exterior of the rooms are looking a bit shabby in places, the inside looked like it had been renovated reasonably recently - with the exception of the tiled showers which looked like they could do with a good scrub.
Was lovely to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and also the free minibar which was restocked daily so we always had snacks and water.
Enjoyed breakfasts and lunches at the main cafe/restaurant but found that the Beach Brasserie had better dinner options for the kids.
Loved the convenience of catching the golf buggies up to our room and down to the Oriental Village. The shop next to reception was also handy for buying extra snacks etc.
Spent a lot of time at the main swimming pool, which our boys loved especially when the staff brought around free watermelon slices.
We were a bit worried about getting sick before we arrived but we brushed our teeth with the tap water, drank the water in the restaurants and swam in the sea most days with no ill effects.
The highlight of our stay though was how friendly every single staff member we encountered was.

Very large structure with different types of accommodation, we had a chalet nestled in the forest not far from the central area with swimming pool, restaurants and all amenities. Our room is large and with everything you need, comfortable bed, good wifi, frogobar with snacks and free drinks, comfortable bathroom with all amenities, air conditioning system to review (refreshment but does not dehumidify). Staff always friendly and helpful, chalet / reception and vice versa can always be made with electric vehicles. The swimming pools and entertainment areas are always clean and well maintained, the exclusive beach is equipped with large umbrellas and comfortable loungers, countless restaurants satisfy the most varied requests even if we appreciated more the one with buffet service to be able to taste the various proposals better. The breakfast is complete and varied with sweet and especially savory proposals of good quality.
Overall a good structure that meets the need for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

Wildlife Haven! My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Rainforest Lodge. This was a very comfortable lodge and we move around the resort using buggies. We tried 3 of the restaurants and mostly the food was good to very good. The only exception was the fresh grouper that we ordered at Pan Thai restaurant which had a bit of smell near the stomach area.

The resort is located very near Oriental Village (alot of Dusky Leaf Monkeys) and the resort provides a free shuttle service one way to Oriental Village every 2 hours. Here is where you can get onto the cable car to reach the peak of Mount Machinchang. Tip 1: I suggest you DO NOT pay for the skybridge access when you are booking your skycab (cable car). We paid for it when booking our skycab ticket and when we reached the summit, they said we could not access due to strong winds. Tip 2: If you're going to the skybridge, DO NOT get off the first stop. That is the middle station. If you get off, you will have to queue to get back onto the skycab to bring you to the summit. We came off the middle station not knowing that there was still another station to get to the top. We had to queue 45 minutes to get back onto the cable car. Tip 3: If you don't like to queue, DO NOT get off the cable car. Just relax and take in the views on the way up and down. We had to queue 1 -1/2 hours just to get back down from the summit.

Due to the inclement weather there was no nature walks but that didn't deter us from looking for wildlife ourselves. We saw Plantain squirrels, otters, pacific reef herons, Oriental Pied Hornbills, Common Sandpiper, Dusky leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaque, Greater Short-nosed Fruit bats (along track 2, there is a palm tree where the fruit bats roost), Tokay Geckos, Asian House Gecko, Spotted House Gecko etc. If you're looking for wildlife, this is the place to stay.

Service at Berjaya Langkawi was very good. They arranged packed breakfast for us as we needed to depart early to catch an early flight. Whenever we called for something, it was promptly delivered to us. The minibar is refilled everyday and this is part of the room package. This is my second time staying at the resort and it didn't disappoint us.

We went for the mangrove boat tour with Dev's Adventure Tours and it didn't disappoint. Saw lots of Long-tailed macaques and also one Shore Pit Viper. The set lunch at the kelong (floating restaurant) wasn't great but we ordered a lobster cooked in butter and garlic (600gm for RM300) and it was the best lobster we have eaten in a while. highly recommended!!
