The Chequers Inn really is in the rural countryside, although its not far from a market town...you might not know it was there. Thompson is a small village but the locals do regularly frequent The Chequers, both to drink and for a bite to eat, so it continues to survive when those in more populated areas flounder. What you'll find...

Had a Sunday roast lunch here with my family. We ordered roast lamb and beef, it was delicious and plenty of it. Vegatables were brought separate and they were also delicious. We ordered prawn cocktails, which were loaded with prawns and sauce, could not be faulted. You could decide on 1 course, 2 courses or 3 courses, i liked this...

Had lunch with a walking party of 20. Meals were all pre-ordered for 1.15 p.m. but were not ready on time. Staff were very friendly & the service was good. Starters & pudds. were all fine. Slight reservations about the main course though. Rolled plaice in a cream sauce on a bed of new potatoes. Not the prettiest dish &...

We popped in after a dog walk for a quick lunch and were blown away at how friendly everyone was. The food was great too! It's been 20 years since I was last at the Chequers and I had good memories of my visit's back then and it's good to know it's still as good as ever.

We spent a week recently in Thompson recently and visited the Chequers on two occasions, never being disappointed. This Olde World Pub serves food of the highest standard, beautifully cooked and presented and at a reasonable price. Staff are wonderful, always with a smile and very helpful. Portions are large and filling and the puddings are to die for especially...

The food at The Chequers was delicious, freshly cooked and hot. Sadly, the poor service let it down and I would think twice about returning. It was midweek, the restaurant wasn't busy and we were told that we would wait around 20 minutes but they would bring us some bread. We waited 45 minutes and the bread didn't materialise, however...
