After 15 years of marriage we needed some excitement. WHOA bring it on in luxury. This place was great (stayed there 9/2009) so awhile ago. Room accomodations were first class even without electricity or AC, Best coffee in the world delivered to your door. We had whales outside our room, a sloth in our tree right off the deck, iguanas... Me and my family spent 5 days and 4 nights at Lapa Rios. The view from Bungalow 6 was amazing. When we arrived, there was a small hole on our screen, which we did not report. However, by the end of the first day they had replaced the entire screen perfectly. The outlet in between our beds did not work... More

Wow, wow and wow! This place is fantastic. We chose this destination because our experience last year at Arenas Del Mar was so wonderful- we wanted to try another Cayuga Collection eco-resort. Lapa Rios did NOT disappoint. When we first pulled in, we were greeted by several staff members- cold water and cool washcloths were immediately provided. We were told... More

I studied Lapa Rios in a sustainability course in hospitality school and had set high expectations for my experience when I booked a last minute trip to Costa Rica. Despite going during rainy season, the lodge was still full (I was able to secure a room for only two of the five days I visited) and rain was intermittent -... More

This place is the ultimate in Eco luxury. Totally off the grid, you need to fly into Puerta Jimenez then be driven by the lodge driver to the resort. You are met with cool towels and a welcome drink and the most amazing staff I have found in Costa Rica. Service with a smile at all times! The food is... More

Recommended for people or tourists that REALLY appreciate nature, hiking, surfing and relaxing. Our experience was amazing in all aspects. We recommend to do all the hikes, try all the plates from the 3 meals, and walk all the beaches. Staff is super friendly and at your service! Ask for room #9, it is simply amazing. We recommend to visit... More

I was traveling around Osa Peninsula with my boyfriend for our vacation and after having fun on a 4x4 all terrain road trip from Jimenez we arrived at Cabo Matapalo without having a clue where to stay for the night (we usually do not reserve and find a place day by day, it's always a surprise!) We found Lapa Rios... More

This resort is beautifully situated rooms in the jungle. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is plentiful but repetitive and not that great. Cold poached eggs, over cooked bacon and inconsistent quality were of issue for us. The menu did not change over the five nights we were there and most mornings we waited over an hour for... More

From the moment we arrived we were in awe of this majestic place. Adventure, luxury and world class hospitality awaits you if you visit Lapa Rios. We saw many birds, butterflies, reptiles, and monkeys. The guides are extraordinary and super knowledgeable. Tips: bring quick drying travel clothes and comfortable shoes. They provide rain boots and walking sticks.

There's not a whole lot I can add to what has already been said. They do a wonderful job of caring for the guests but will never be mistaken for a Four Seasons. They are committed to treading lightly in the environment and supporting the local economy, hiring locals almost exclusively. The staff is a bit unpolished, sometimes getting a... More
