We booked this hotel for a romantic long weekend. What a great choice! Prague is a beautiful, but incredibly touristic town. The Augstine is perfectly located on "the other" side of the river, a stone-throw away from the iconic Charles Bridge which leads straight into the busy center. The hotel is an old abbey and you still feel the atmosphere. Nice restaurant with friendly service. We were told about a great brunch by friends. It was not bad; good quality but not a huge choice. Service is very friendly. Room was spacious and comfortable. Only disappointment was the Spa. We ordered two different massages; we both got the same treatment which was not even one of the two ordered.... (to be honest, the hotel reimbursed us 50%).

Dear edorlas, we appreciate you taking the time to write and share your review with us. We are happy that you liked the ambiance of our monastery and the warm service at our Augustine Restaurant. We sincerely regret any difficulty that the breakfast selections and the confused spa treatments may have caused. But thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have another opportunity to put things right in the future. We sincerely hope that your trip allowed you to experience Prague's splendor and make treasured memories. Again, we appreciate you selecting our hotel for your vacation, and we look forward to having you visit us again in the future. On behalf of the management team, Julie Hlavacova - Quality Manager

I'm not the kind to normally take the time to write a review--I either have to be blown away or filled with rage to do so. This time it was blown away. What a beautiful hotel! It's close to the St. Charles Bridge in a very private location which was a monastery built in the 1300's. In fact, one wing is still active and houses 4 monks. The hotel itself is understated and elegant with whitewashed walls and natural wood beams in the ceilings. As a Platinum Elite member we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a Jr. suite which was large and comfortable. It had all the amenities you would expect in a luxury hotel. We especially enjoyed the breakfasts and the spa, where we had an excellent couples massage. Having said all this, this hotel won't appeal to everyone. As I write this, I'm staying at the Ritz Carleton in Budapest, and the difference is noticeable. Whereas the Ritz is opulent and glamorous, the Augustine is smaller, simpler and has a more authentic feel. It combines luxury with a certain charm that you won't get at the Ritz. We felt much more connected to the culture there. The staff is not as polished as at the Ritz, but they are friendly and eager to please. For us, it was the perfect place to stay. We couldn't have asked for more!

This hotel is absolutely lovely! Prague can be very overrun with tourists and crowded but this hotel was tucked away in a quiet area but still very close to the hustle and bustle and the major sights. As a platinum Marriott Bonvoy member, we were treated exceptionally! They gave us a room upgrade and also added small touches to the room that room that we very much appreciated. We traveled with our 3 year old daughter and they provided cute items for her to make our stay more comfortable. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and kind. The breakfast was also wonderful and with our status, we were able to order pretty much everything on the menu, which was incredible! The concierge assisted us in making restaurant recommendations and we were also able to buy tram passes directly from them. The rooms itself were very clean and beautifully decorated. I especially loved the bathroom. Only negative is that the windows are tiny and ours especially were high up so we could not look out of it but we did not really mind as we were out most of the day and considering that this is a historic hotel, it makes sense. I cannot recommend this hotel enough! Loved our stay here and made prague very enjoyable.

This is a smaller, specialty hotel. We were served a glass of prosecco at check-in, and we were treated so well everywhere we went in the hotel. The rooms were lovely with comfy linens. This is a former monastery building, and the layout of the building is a little confusing (although after 3 days I figured it out, just in time to check out!). The front desk staff was so wonderful to us. At check-in, I mentioned my husband's back bothering him, and as soon as we got to our room, someone delivered some lumbar pillows without us asking. We slept very well, even though our room did overlook the electric train tracks--the windows seemed to drown out most sound when closed. If you are a light sleeper, maybe ask for the courtyard side. We did upgrade our room to a 1-br suite, and honestly, we thought the bathroom felt bigger than the entire cabin on the river cruise we took before checking in! The location is wonderful, very close to the Charles Bridge, the Vrtba gardens, the funicular, and more. The domed, brick ceiling you see in the photos online is not the bar area but a private event venue; the bar is actually lovely, but it is not what I expected. We tried the St. Thomas beer (from a 1300's monks' recipe), and we quite liked it. Service was great at the bar, and they had a small menu if you wanted a sandwich or appetizer. Breakfast was included in our plan (through Viking), and we ate at the restaurant two mornings. We had great service and lovely food which included a menu and/or buffet. When you leave the hotel to explore Prague, be cautious and look both ways for electric trains as you leave the courtyard. There is a pedestrian tunnel, but you have to cross the street to get to it. Overall, I was very pleased with our stay.

We visited Prague in late September 2023. Very pleased by our choice to stay at Hotel Augustine. We will be back! Highlights: -Exceptional staff who catered to our every need and provide wonderful recommendations (sites, food). -Sauna and steam room (even if you don't make a spa reservation, check these out) -Breakfast (included in our rate) was the perfect start to the day. Waffles & Eggs Benedict were outstanding! -Bed, Pillows and Towels made it clear the whole team is focused on the details! Very soft and comfortable. -Location. Walkable to all the key sites! -Try the monk beer on site. It's still brewed by the hotel, a 600 year old recipe provided to them from the monks at the monastery who technically have leased the land to Marriott (from what we were told). There's also a private tour led by the hotel who can sign up for. Cons: -None that we came across!

Luxurious hotel next to Prague Castle. A treat to stay at. 10 minute walk to Charles Bridge. We were upgraded to a suite which was fantastic. Bathroom was very nice, although the bathshower was very slippery. My wife and I both had trouble with it, which is unusual for us. That being said Prague is a beautiful city and this hotel compliments its beauty very nicely.

We spent three nights here while visiting Prague. It is a beautifully restored former monastery, close to the old town and the Charles Bridge. The staff was lovely. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The included breakfast was excellent. We did think the dinner menu was a bit too fussy, so we ate in the bar a couple of nights.

We stayed at the Augustine as part of a Viking River Cruise package. We were excited to stay here because it had been a monastery and because it is located in the heart of the small town area. What a wonderful room, attentive staff and delicious food for the included breakfast. The view looking out our bathroom window was Prague Castle. Couldn't have been any better. Well worth the price.

a very nice hotel recreated from a monastery that was also a brewery at one time. clean rooms, great water pressure to take a shower and a young but willing staff. Worth staying at though price is higher than other local choices but in my opinion worth the cost on a value basis.
