We,ve stayed at The Kampa twice now. The first time, they put us in a coverted broom cupboard on the top floor, next to the noisy lift motor. After the first night, we complained and they moved us to a better room. Our second visit was even worse. When we tried to check in, they told us that they had...

We stayed at the BW Kampa in August 2007. The hotel is located ideally on/near the Kampa island in Prague's Little Quarter area. It's on a picturesque cobblestone side street, but very close to the main trolley stops. The hotel is decorated in a medieval theme, but doesn't remind you of a Renaissance faire. The rooms are modest, but very...

I stayed at the best western kampa for 1 week in Sept 2006. The location was perfect - close to everything but still in a quiet area. My room was small, but not unusually so for Europe. It did smell a bit musty and I was glad that it was perfect weather for leaving the window open. The breakfast buffet...

Just returned from a weekend break at this hotel in Prague. Have to agree that it is not a four star, but that in itself is not a complaint. The rooms are clean and tidy and turned down each night with the obligatory chocolate on the pillow. The location is great, just a short walk through the park or down...

When we stayed in this hotel on a lovely sidestreet in a nice(and quiet) area we weren't even sure if it was open, such is the nature of this hotel. On entry we were greeted by a small reception area with very helpful and friendly staff. A mix-up with our booking wasn't the most encouraging start but it was sorted...

Euroagentur moved us to this hotel because our original location was overbooked. At first we were turned off by the Medieval theme which is quite silly, but the hotel turned out to be more than acceptable as far as accomodations are concered. Better yet, the location is outstanding. A quiet location right next to Kampa Island and out of the...

We only stayed at the Kampa 1 night as our original hotel had overbooked. The reception area is a tiny square and we were greeted by a strong smell of cabbage. The rooms were tiny and vaguely reminiscent of a room in a retirement home. It was very dingy and the only light was a standard lamp. Although it was...

Everything about this hotel is strictly 3 star. If you're okay with 3 stars, then you will not mind this hotel. Though clean, cozy (in a kind of University dormatory kind of way), and fairly close to The Charles Bridge, it has nothing to offer (not even a good cup of coffee). If you won't be in your rooms much...

March 24th, 2006 We just returned from 4 days in Prague as well as 4 days in Munich. Wow! Prague is definitely worth the effort! I heard that the food was terrible but we didn't find that at all. Many restaurant choices. Lot's of italian restaurants and pizza places. Great clubs & bars. My 20 & 16 yr. old sons...

We stayed in the Hotel Kampa in Feb '06, and we are so glad we did. Hotel is in a perfect location for discovering this beautiful city. Our room (320) was of a good size, very clean and warm, which we appreciated as the temperature bearly crept above freezing point while we were there! The Receptionists spoke enough English to...

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
