I really enjoyed my 3 night stay at this hotel. As others have said the location can not be bettered but what really made the stay special for me was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at the hotel, and the facilities, which were excellent.

I stayed in a Premium Room on the 9th floor which came with a fridge (initial two bottles of water provided) and coffee making machine (capsules replenished daily). The bathroom was spacious for an Ibis and the room was very well designed making maximum use of the space available.

All the staff were approachable and helpful, particularly all of the reception staff, the bar and restaurant staff, and Denisa who is in charge of guest relations.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is excellently located, being just a few minutes walk from the nearest tram stop, we were also only about a 10 minute walk to the old town square.

We paid for a Premium room, which was a decent size with a good sized bathroom.

The only snag we had with the bathroom was the weird sliding door, which sometimes proved difficult to open and close.

We had nespresso coffee pods and tea bags for a hot drink, but much to my surprise there was no cups to drink from… the cold water in the fridge was a nice touch and the safe in the room was good.

The big issue we had was the air conditioning. Our stay was at the start of May, and being British, even the slightest increase in temperature melts us like marshmallows.

The room was on the very top floor, so as expected, it was stifling at night. This wouldn’t have been half as bad if the air con was actually customisable. What’s the point in having the option to control the temperature if it is controlled centrally by the reception? I was told that the air con was still set to winter settings, so it would only blow out warm air… it was around 23 degrees C outside and like I said, being on the top floor made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. I literally woke up in the middle of the night in pools of sweat, which led to a shocking quality of sleep. The window only opened a crack which is expected at this height for safety reasons.

We paid for the breakfast to be included, and I personally very much enjoyed it. It was a standard continental breakfast. Pastries, eggs, cheese, meat, fruit and breads. A selection of juices, teas and coffee was available. The breakfast gets a thumbs up from us.

Overall, for the price we had paid ~£40/night it was an okay stay. It’s well located, and the breakfast is very good. It would’ve been much better had it not been for the poor air conditioning system. I did also find the staff to be most helpful, both in the dining room and in reception, although when asking for a pillow, I was waiting for a few minutes to be seen to despite being the okay person in the queue.

We checked-in with no fuss at all. Adam from reservation had been excellent in reassuring us that our hotel voucher from pre-pandemic had been continuously renewed. Staff in breakfast area were welcoming and ensured that the buffet table was continuously refilled. There were variations in the food served on a daily basis, which all hotels should emulate. Even there are a high numbwr of rooms, I believe that reception could have done more than the minimal. Providing a kettle on demand would have enhanced our customer experience as serving boiling water from the bar poses a high risk to everyone from the lifts to the rooms. Otherwise, location to public transport, shopping, eateries and main attractions for Ibis hotels, especially this one, is the main strength for the competitive price range offered.

The best thing about this hotel is its location which was in the heart of the city. Everything was close enough and easily walkable even after midnight.

We booked the room designed by Annet and Nadya. The photos of that room were not fully consistent with the reality: the walls were covered by the priming without plaster, not like it had been shown on the photos. The dark gray color of that priming was unpleasant and ruined the enjoyment of staying in that room.

But the main disillusion was the fridge had been missing not only in our room but in all rooms of the hotel. I figured that out after I had took a look at the neighboring window sills where everybody kept their food and beverages.

Everyone knows that tourists enjoy buying different meals at local markets while staying in Prague. On top of that hotel restaurants are competitive only during breakfast time. So why not put a small fridge in every room? It is not a big deal.

Speaking of breakfasts, they were ok but no special meals were presented on Christmas.

The ibis old town provides you with all the amenities you need with a comfortable bed, friendly, English speaking staff and a modern bar area. The hotel is great for travellers who just require a cheap place to sleep and aren’t interested in luxuries such as complimentary soaps/shampoos/shower gels. The breakfast was average, the choice of hot food items was very limited, only scrambled or boiled eggs are available and the choice of bacon or sausage alternates, we found on some days there would be no sausage or bacon but pasta, if you are a fan of full English breakfasts the ibis is definitely not the hotel for you, the cold selection however is great offering fresh fruits, pastries, cheese, meats and yoghurts. The only negative point I can think of for the hotel is that during busy periods the lifts can take a while and we found ourselves waiting longer than 5 minutes on multiple occasions for the lift to arrive at our floor.

Overall very satisfied. Maybe the best ibis i’ve stayed in. Great for a solo traveller on a budget who wants to stay in a good location

Pros
Excellent location in old city
Premium room is functional and stylishly furnished (for an ibis at least)
Nice lobby for a budget hotel
Very low price for what I got

Cons (all normal though at an ibis)
Bar/restaurant seemed to be never open
No vending machines, impossible to buy refreshments after hours
No hand cream, few towels

We spent 4 nights staying at the Ibis old town at the end of October. On the out skirts of the old town this hotel is a good location to explore from. Main tram stops practically outside the door and a short walk to the old town Sq. Our room was located on the 8th floor, it was clean and comfortable, slight negative was that it was a little chilly in the late evening, it seemed the heating wasn't switched on yet as it was unseasonably warm during the day. We experienced absolutely no noise during our stay which is unusual for such a large hotel. We really enjoyed the continental breakfast spead, lots of different options, food was fresh and constantly topped up by staff, yes the breakfast room was busy but there is over 200 rooms at this hotel in a very touristy city so not really sure why some see this as a negative, its to be expected. All the staff that we encountered were friendly, helpful and engaging. We had clean towels and beds made everyday. This is a great budget friendly hotel in the heart of Prague. Recommended.

Overall our stay was fine. Location is brilliant! Cons: room was very hot (air con must not be operational in winter), we paid for a premium room but did not think it was particularly premium, we did not receive the coffee making facilities as promised, and some of the breakfast things need looking at: a coffee machine would be nice and microwaving a toastie instead of toasting it was not appetising at all. The man at the breakfast service was extremely friendly and very hardworking making sure everything was replenished. Check in and out was very straightforward and we enjoyed our holiday in Prague!

This hotel is in a great location, extremely clean but very warm in the evenings when trying to sleep. Slept with the window open until about 6am when it becomes extremely noisy with staff arriving, bins emptying etc..
Breakfast was ok, very basic but did the job.
No safe or mini bar in the rooms.
Something to bare in mind if you are looking at a relaxing hotel is that this is popular location and hotel for stag and hen parties.
All in all a good hotel and I would recommend/return. Just in the ‘in season’ months when the air con in the room would be operational!
