I visited this lovely hotel to celebrate a special birthday. From the moment we checked in it was a great experience. Staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. We had a beautiful quiet room overlooking the monastery courtyard garden. Housekeeping was excellent. Concierge was knowledgable and helpful. Breakfast was excellent especially the freshly cooked omelettes. The location is close enough to...

I stayed at the mandarin oriental for one night for business. Like many a traveler, I forgot my iPhone charger. Rather than have an inventory of chargers one can bring back to one's room in exchange for a deposit until returned...the mandarin oriental has one. Which is permanently attached to the concierge desk on the ground floor. So, I had...

It's not often I get to stay in a super deluxe hotel. Most times I do, I seem to be made to feel out of place by the staff or general snooty atmosphere created by the people staying there. Like why is this scummy roady here? But not here! Everyone there was great, nothing was a problem for anyone, to...

We've just spent 3 nights here with another couple and it couldn't have been better. From the minute the taxi entered the courtyard until we left, every member of staff that we encountered went out of their way to ensure that we wanted for nothing during our stay. The food in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was excellent and the...

This is a relaxing and luxurious experience. I looked forward to returning to my room every evening! The breakfast was superb and the service offered was impeccable. There is a personal, friendly and inviting feeling which is often hard to create in a large chain, but the Mandarin has succeeded. Particular thanks to Saskia at the front desk and the...

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
