While the hotel is clean and very close to both the Old Town and Railway station, it does not have all the facilities it claims. The restaurant, such as it is, is only used for continental breakfast nothing else. It's obvious there once was a...More
This fairly large hotel is in a brilliant location for anyone exploring Krakow, it is just around the corner from the main railway station / shopping centre and just a few hundred metres from the Barbican - one of the towers on the old city...More
Location is good, that's about it. Breakfast is ok but no more, rooms have no AC and it seems like they think a good time to renovate the building is around 3-5 am... they also messed up our booking to Auschwitz so we had to...More
The Matejko proved an excellent place to stay and I enthusiastically recommend it. Very handy for the central rail station and the old city, lots of bars and restaurants at hand. The building is interesting, my room was quiet and comfortable and breakfast more than...More
nice hotel, great location, 5 minutes walk from Krakow old square, and 2 minutes walk from Galleria mall, average breakfast, nice rooms and toilets, friendly staff (but when we arrived at 12:15 midnight, they were totally sleepy :) )

Hi. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the town square, about 10 to 15 bminutes past the Barbican and along Florianska street. The hotel is located just on the other side of the main road which surrounds the old city and the "park" around the old walls known as the Planty. It is also very close to the new shopping Mall called "Galeria Krakow".
We have been to the Auschwitz/Birkenau site, To be honest, we were so upset by it that we only managed to do the morning visit around the old army baracks which was the original camp. It is a museum and memorial, but it is not a fun day out, so be prepared for the emotions that you will experience when you see the "exhibits" and realise just what happened there. You might find a trip to the Wieliczka salt mines much more rewarding and enjoyable.
