This hotel is perfectly situated in central Budapest right next to the Dohany Street Synagogue with a Metro station 1/2 block away. The hotel itself, as others have written, is difficutl to find within a large building that also houses professional offices and apartments. The hotel takes up a small portion of the 1st floor and the walk through the...

Had the right address but couldnt find the Hotel sign in all the graffitti at the entrance to this building's courtyard. I ventured in, & a cleaning lady pointed to the lift. Up to the 2nd floor , along a walkway with peeling paint but no litter - just old & decaying. At this stage I'm thinking Trip Advisor has...

We stayed 2 days at Karoly Central and we enjoyed the hotel. It was very central. The rooms are very nice and new, the breakfast is serviced to room, the staff's behaviour and recommendations were very good. They have also given a bottle of white wine as a gift which we didnt experience even at 5 star hotels. The hotel...

We stayed in Karoly Central for 3 nights. The most noticeable features of this hotel are the situation (next to the Pest centre, just 5 minutes walk from Deak Ter, the central metro station), the price which is very correct for the comfort (great and clean room, nice bathroom) and the friendly staff at the reception. Moreover they suggested us...

We almost let our fear of being able to find this hotel keep us from booking a stay. We're glad we didn't. It was a delight to meet Dorka, Reka, and Tikva, and we can't thank them enough for making us feel so welcome. The hotel is small, very clean, and air conditioned! Nice to come back to at the...

Firstly easy to get from airport, terminal 1 , train (£1), underground, 200metres from Astoria underground (a three day transport pass £12), then you have to use your initiative... recommend an external photo off website onto your mobile phone and you will spot it easily, once inside look for the lift and names.. it is there . Unusual style but...

Incredibly hard to find. We happened to come into the building the hotel is in from the side of the street that didn't have a sign, and we wandered around with our suitcases until somebody figured out what we were looking for and pointed us to the elevator. The hotel is tucked inside what seems to be an apartment building...

I read all the reviews for this hotel and am surprised that there are any negative ones. Even finding the hotel was an adventure. There is parking nearby whilst you locate it and you then get a true insight to Budapest. It is like an old spy movie with dreary staircases and you expect to see a man in a...

The other reviews understates how hard it is to find this hotel. My GPS got me to 3B and 3C, which is 200 meters from 3A on the other side of the road - and when you find 3A you still have to go through a maze with small gold signs as your lead until you finally reach the hotel....

I don't have much to add to the previous reviews--all of the praise by TripAdvisor members was right on the money. Speaking of money, what a bargain! It's located by the beautiful, yet sad, Dohany Street Synagogue and near to the Metro and the national museum. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when I next visit this fantastic city.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
