My sister and I stayed for three nights at Karoly Central in Budapest. As other reviewers have said, it's quite hard to find, and the outside is a bit offputting, but inside it's fantastic. The staff, especially Dorka and the housemaid, were fantastic. They couldn't do enough to help us. The room was spotless with a great bathroom and shower,...

I can't even begin to tell you how nice the staff is. This place is a very quaint place right in the heart of the city center. It is run by young and energetic women who provide free room service, clean your room, and welcome you with a smile everytime you come and go. I felt like royalty here and...

We loved the Budapest Karoly Central. The hotel itself was adorable and impeccably clean, with ample size rooms and a complimentary bottle of wine to greet us. The staff was so friendly and so accommodating. The location also was even better than we imagined, located centrally in Pest a half-block from the Dohany Synagogue. We were able to walk everywhere...

I booked this hotel because of its high tripadvisor ratings and overall was not disappointed. The hotel has a character - it is located in one of those huge Budapest block of flats right across the street from the Dohany synagogue (very central). The room was nicely furnished and clean, bathroom 4* hotel standard and we received a complimentary bottle...

Just got back from this hotel after a 4 night stay. If not for the shuttle driver (from the airport) we would certainly not have found it. The directions could be a little more detailed. The entrance is found between some shops. On a wall to your right is displayed numerous plaques for shops and offices, the Karoly is almost...

My wife and i spent 5 nights at the Karoly Central in Budapest in March 2009, our first trip to Hungary. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the sightseeing and the food!! The Karoly Central is a lovely, good value hotel, in a great location, being so near to the metro (2 minute walk), and within easy walking distance of...

The welcoming Hungarian wine was a lovely and warm touch to begin our visit. We traveled with our two adult children who agreed the hotel was an excellent choice. The rooms were large with high ceilings. Breakfast in the rooms was an added delight. Very close to the Metro which saves time, but most often we walked to what we...

I am a BIG fan of this hotel. I've been to hundreds of hotels--everything from quaint little B&Bs to the fanciest hotels in New York--and the Budapest Karoly Central was my favorite--by far. It had so much personality that I'm sure I'll never forget it. It's the only place I've ever stayed where I felt like a guest in someone's...

We stayed five nights at Karoly Central in February. Small, charming, and kind of strange - in a good way::). Friendly staff and a great location in the centre of Pest. And, It`s really not that hard to find. Just through the main gate, elevator to the 2nd floor, right, left, and then left agian. I think...:)

A super hotel we stayed 4 nights and everything was excellent. Easy enough to find if you read the rest of the reviews as we followed someone elses instructions. Lovely rooms always warm and the breakfast was also good. Built in DVD players in the TV's so you could take your own DVD's if you wanted. Staff were alway very...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
