We stayed at Carlton for only one night, but it was one of the best experiences in Budapest. Central location (on the Buda side), nice room, lots of free extras (including coffee, computer and printer in the lobby, and a welcome drink at the pub next door), inexpensive. In other words, a tourist dream.

The hotel is just across the Chain Bridge, close to the bus and not far from the subway. It is comfortable, has nice rooms, no major problems, decent breakfast, free coffee at noon. I am returning customer since 2006. But I must complain about my checkout. My flight was departing at 6:05 on Wednesdat 05/04/2017, so I asked the reception...

I thought the Carlton was great for the price we paid. The room we stayed in had 2 separate beds that we could pull well apart for privacy, beds very comfortable by hotel standards, nice crisp white cotton sheets, towels changed regularly, nice size bathroom with bath and shower, large mirror with extra magnifying mirror, safe, fridge with free water...

We booked an executive room, because the visit was part of our honeymoon. The room was nice and modern but quite small. It had a balcony, which was nice but not relevant for us at the start of March. :o) The bathroom was modern and had a shower and, like the bedroom, it was clean. The breakfast buffet had a...

The location of the hotel is excellent, the rooms are clean and the breakfast was quite good. First we got a room next to the elavator and it got noisy in the morning, but the staff was kind enough to change it

We spent 3 nights at this lovely quiet, fairly small hotel in February. The hotel in Buda part of the city was in a great location, set at the bottom of castle hill and just a five minute walk to the Chained Bridge, where we walked over to the busier part of the city; Pest. It is also five minutes...

Hotel is excellently situated near Chain Bridge and at the base of Castle Hill. Both a three minute walk from. Being so close to the bridge made it incredibly easy to walk over to Pest. Being on the side of Buda allowed us to easily get to the top of Caslte Hill (15 minute walk) St. Stephens Chuch (20 minute)...

Stayed here for three nights at the end of February. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the room was very pleasant with a comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent - scrambled and hard boiled eggs, sausages, meats, cheese, cereal, yogurt, etc. - something for everyone. Our room had a safe and it worked just fine. The location is superb, it's...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
