We stayed here in a triple for three nights in mid-April and would not hestitate to return. The lobby is spacious, there is a nice seating area, a coffee bar, and three computers with solid internet access. The location can not be beat as it is on the quieter Buda side but almost at the foot of the Chain Bridge...

The Carlton Hotel Budapest has some truly great points: location, easy access to great public transportation and a wonderful belgian beer hall/ restaurant right next door. However, as a professional establishment they do fall short in terms of helpfulness, professionalism and cleanliness. I was in Budapest to see the city and did not spend much time in my room, but...

The location of the hotel is very good, right next to the River, near the Castle. Also, next door is a fantastic Belgian bar which serves great beer and food. The hotel was clean, and does a decent standard breakfast buffet (although some of the yoghurts were out of date). For this reason I would say it is good value....

The position of the hotel is just great for sightseeing, the Castle area is straight up from the hotel and everything is within walking distance. Breakfast was well thought out and a very good variety of food. The public transport was good and the staff were helpful. Very prompt Taxi Service to the airport. The room catered for all my...

Unfortunately I enjoyed a rather poor stay at the hotel. I stayed with a group of professional individuals who's roles range from solicitor to company director to accountant. The average age of our party was 32. We stayed for 3 nights (Fri, Sat & Sun). Let me begin with the positives: Free Wifi is superb and the 3 pc's on...

I wouldn't call it a 4 star, it's 3 star. The cleaners could be a little more thorough but other than that not much to have an issue with. Concierge generally very helpful. Whilst the location is a quiet one, our room was actually rather noisy, so take earplugs. Breakfast is a plentiful continental buffet. Free wifi was very useful...

Tiny rooms are in poor condition and dusty. Windows aren't properly isolated, hence street noise can be heard loud and clear. Pillows are more like small blankets. There are problems with electric connections (e.g. using bed side lamp switch makes shower room heater turn on). Poor breakfast: lots of ham and sausage, only few fruit, hard bread, awful coffee. Four...

The Carlton is a great hotel with an excellent breakfast and a convenient location. From the Carlton you can walk all over the city of Budapest. It is located near the Chain bridge so is a hop and a jump from all the sites of interest. The free wi fi is a fantastic plus point and we could research where...

The hotel is centrally situated on Buda side and this makes it perfect for exploring the main sights on foot. The lobby is modern and it looks nice - here it is also the breakfast room. The staff is nice and helpful and there is free wireless all over the hotel, which is an advantage. But the rooms look old...

Ideal location for those who like the quieter atmosphere in Buda, but want to be walking distance to major sights in Pest. Priced well for it's range, the rooms are tasteful and adequate size. Breakfast is ample for a continental spread and included eggs and sausage as well as some cakes and the usual meats, yogurt, etc, although with the...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
