The hotel is very well located. The most important tourist attractions of Budapest are located on walking distance from the hotel. It's very cosy and furbished with taste. I think it's a very good choice in matters of comfort and 'touristic practicability'.

I have booked the hotel last minute as I needed to come to Budapest for a few hours. All was ok, but then.. I have changed my opinion after taking a taxi that they ordered me today in the morning. I needed to get to the bus station. The car was black and without any logos, the driver spoke English,...

We stayed two nights in this hotel. Location is perfect (right next to the Chain Bridge) but I agree with the other comments below that it’s missing that something special. With such a short stay, we like to plan well in advance and staff were just not friendly in helping us with simple email questions of where the nearest spa...

Comfortable, clean, quiet, ideally situated (near Chain Bridge) for visiting both Buda Castle area and main monuments in Pest. Good value as part of a package.

As I have spent 4 nights in this hotel, I have to say that overall I merely have any complaints about the hotel other than the breakfast. The breakfast was so bad that for the 4 nights I stayed here I only had breakfast twice. The choice of buffet was terrible, the only thing worth complimenting was the cheese. Lol....

I stayed in the Carlton hotel Budapest because of it's proximity to Chain Bridge and Buda Castle. It's not a 4* hotel in my opinion. The staff are very good, and the location is fantastic - but it lacks that special something that a 4* hotel should have. Having said that, it's a great hotel to make your base. The...

We stayed at the Carlton in Dec 2011. I think this is a good hotel for the price but it should be considered a 3 star by American standards. Great breakfast & attentive staff.

Truly, when we booked this hotel, we thought the name "Carlton" would involve some extra quality above the average. But it wasn't. Carlton Hotel Budapest has 4 stars but it deserves 2 and a half, no more. Briefly: rooms are a bit small. But it's clean. The worst part is the bed as every room has 2 small beds put...

The best thing about this hotel is the location, being very close to the chain bridge and within walking distance of all the main attractions on both sides of the fantastically stunning Danube. The rooms are small (but no smaller than most city hotels), clean and serviced daily. The toiletries were poor really especially the shampoo that looked as if it...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
