Stayed at the InterContinental in Budapest recently. The views from the hotel are tremendous - though make sure you upgrade to a river-view room as it's well worth the price. The property is in a good location, walking distance to the funicular up to Buda Castle (just across the Szechenyi Chain Bridge), as well as to the Hungarian Parliament Building...

A lovely café in the lobby, amazing view and delicious gluten free cakes. The staff are friendly and kind, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The lobby btw is decorated in a charming way for Xmas.

Lovely friendly staff which in Budapest we found is a rarity. Popped in for drinks, the bar has a great view of the castle opposite Watched the world go by with lovely local wine and beer The Christmas tram went past as we enjoyed the evening

The InterContinental Budapest Hotel is fantastic. The location is perfect, within walking distance to everything and mere minutes from the Chain Bridge, Christmas markets, restaurants, and so much more. Our room had an amazing view of Budapest Castle and the Chain Bridge over the Danube River. The hotel was elegant but not stuffy and even my kids loved it. Large...

The riverside location is unbeatable - extend your budget to a river view room and marvel at the view! It's pretty good from the bar and lounge too. The staff are friendly, helpful and well-trained. Corso bar and restaurant are both good, but expect to be paying capital city prices. The room was good as well, but it (along with...

This hotel must have the finest location for an uninterupted view across the Danube to the Pest side of the city. On top of that it provides excellent service and accommodation. Essentially, make sure you book a room with a view. Budapest is still relatively cheap for a European capital city so you can get top quality accomodation for a...

What an excellent hotel. Perfectly situated near the xmas markets, metro, and attractions. We just loved it! Metro just around the corner and from our room (314) we had a stunning view of Buda and the chain bridge that we just sat and stared at for hours. Best hotel I have ever stayed in with the staff being very professional...

InterContinental Budapest is a good choice for sightseeing due to its fantastic central location. It offers fantastic views which are well worth it. On the not-so-positive side Wi-fi is slow to non existing at times and the hotel needs to be renovated. I hope they will consider it in future.

First of all the Intercontinental has one of the best locations in the city, being situated directly across the Danube from old Buda and Castle Hill. The views are gorgeous. We arrived over Thanksgiving weekend and found the staff to be thoroughly courteous and helpful. In particular we received the best advice and support each day from the Concierge, Gabor...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
