A very good location, it is right in the centre and main attractions can be easily accessed by walking or public transport. Check in was very quick and easy, our room was quite spacious. Very warm and clean with the basic amenities but everything you need for a city break. If you are staying for breakfast, it is quite basic...

Firstly after reading a few negating reviews, I was a little anxious about arriving here..... I CAN NOT stress enough how wrong these negative reviews are. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights on arrival we were met by a very polite and helpful man at the reception desk, we opened our room and found it very spacious...

The best thing about this hotel is the location. 2 min walk to the main shopping street. Main bridge to old city outside, rudas baths just across from that. Ten min walk to the chain bridge for access to the castle etc. Location is awesome. The hotel is very clean and staff very friendly. Reception staff are great. Ordered a...

I stayed at City Hotel Matyas for 6 days with my family and we were satisfied. The room was large enough for three people but unfortunately, although I booked for a double bed room with a single bed for my boy, there were three single beds of which two put togheter...not very comfortable. In the bathroom there is neither a...

Location is fabulous almost in the middle of town near all the amenities, the three bridges can be seen from the end of the road even with the middle bridge almost outside the hotel noise is minimal and has no impact at all. We stayed bed and breakfast it's a buffet style with all the normal food available it's the...

My daughter and I went for a few days at the end of November for the Christmas markets. When you first arrive in front of this old building, with the rather shabby steps and you go up to the very dated reception area, you begin to wonder what you have booked, but we were given one of the newly renovated...

Dear Valued Guest ‘Carol B’, Thank you for your visit at City Hotel Mátyás and also for highlighting our values to Tripadvisor users. The hotel does not have renovated part, however we strive to update the room equipment in each room. I'll make this short. Booked in during the eve of new year so it wasn't that cheap. But I am pretty sure prices will be very affordable during the other time. Entrance is hard to locate. Staffs, the staffs are truly sincere and you know they have been at it for many years. When I arrived, there were with several...

The reason we chose City Hotel Matyas as our hotel for our stay in Budapest was because the hotel has cheap prices and the location is top notch. After reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor, I wasn't sure what to expect, as some of the reviews are negative. Happily I can say, I was positively surprised! The hotel is easy...

The Hotel Matyas seems trying to find an economical solution. The building was occupied by various uses and the approach from the reception to the room was complicated. As the room was faced to the courtyard, it was quiet. It was slightly inconvenient that there was no shampoo at the shower space. Except these points, as the room was clean,...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
