We really enjoyed our stay.. The room was wonderful. We enjoyed the baths. The location is very convenient for walking - which we did. The breakfast was excellent. Making reservations was very easy. We would certainly stay here again.

Absolutely fabulous stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Hotel is centrally located. Great for business stay. Not forgetting the great thermal pools and the range of Spa's. Thrilled to start at Gellert. Great place wither for business or leisure. Rooms could be modernised a bit.

My husband and I enjoyed everything. The only thing we did not like is that Gellert baths was overcrowded and smelled like urine. But will hopefully revisit in the future. Everyone was friendly and very polite

We thought that the hotel had enormous potential but was very faded and needed rejuvenation. We were very disappointed with the quality of our bedroom - the bed was OK but the pillows and quilts left much to be desired. It did not reflect what we had seen on the internet when we booked. We were also very surprised and...

This place has a ton of character, the beds were a bit springy but we slept well. Also, my wife hurt her leg and they were able to provide a wheelchair for us to borrow during our stay. The breakfast is great, all-in-all my favorite hotel I've stayed at in Central Europe.

We were satisfied with the accommodation in the hotel. Rooms are pleasantly large, clean, beautiful views of the city and the river. The possibility of going in the bathrobe at the spa is wonderful. The staff was friendly, helpful. We can certainly recommend other clients.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great hotel in excellent location for exploring Budapest. Clean bedrooms wit balcony overlooking the thermal baths. Great selection of good food for breakfast. Enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at thermal baths which was free for hotel guests.

I had a single room for 480 $USD for the week. I loved the location, price ands here is why. Location - great view of the Pest side especially at night. 5 minute walk to the church in the cave. 12 minute walk across the bridge to the Gand Open Market. 25 minute walk to the National Gallery Museum. We...

I checked inti the hotel 13April around 2200 and I did not have a very welcome introduction. The man at the front desk that night did not have any patients and the care rendered by the front desk did not bother to accurately verify my online registration. I was overcharged over the dates requested. This was a poor introduction. I...

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Art Nouveau style Danubius Hotel Gellert first opened its doors in 1918, and has long been an iconic Budapest landmark that has even featured in Hollywood films. Its stately building, at the foot of the Gellert hill, also houses the world-famous Gellert Baths, which include an outdoor pool with the original wave-generating device installed in 1927. Over the years, some famous names have stayed at the Gellert – including American presidents and European royalty – and the hotel retains the elegant atmosphere of a bygone age. Guests can enjoy superb cuisine at the Panorama Restaurant or Gellert Brasserie, and take advantage of wellness treatments and medical programmes at the adjacent Gellert Baths. Furthermore, the hotel is the perfect base for exploring, located next to one of Budapest’s most beautiful bridges and a short walk from Pest’s Great Market Hall and shopping streets. ... more   less
