Great classic style hotel. No faults with the room or bathroom. Good value, although breakfast is very expensive if not included in the room rate. Not the most friendly people in the spa but that is nit-picking.

Positive aspects first - the cost of the room itself was very reasonable, the hotel is fantastic, room sizes are great, comfy beds and decent bathrooms. The spa is also nice and well appointed and all the staff are very polite and helpful. Location is also good. The major off put for me to come back is the price for... More

Perfect hotel, perfect service, much more than what I expected! Nice rooms, exceptional executive services, bar, space... only the brasserie I found it a bit disappointed comparing with the level of the hotel.

Loved our seven day stay at this beautiful hotel with a great location near the City center. Near many sites and close to exceptional restaurants. The breakfast was a bit expensive at 29 euros but it was wonderful. The overall service was excellent except for housekeeping which was not consistent. The restaurants were all excellent and reasonably priced. The rooms... More

Attending a conference in Budapest and the suggested accommodation was at the conference venue, The Corinthia. As with my previous visit, from check in to check out experiences with all staff was exemplary. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, the spa facilities are outstanding, food from the hotel's outlets was all top quality and reasonably priced. I cannot commend... More

Corinthia hotel is one of the most stylish hotels in Budapest. Always nice to return there. Services are very good, pool and sauna are nice, rooms are spacious and very well equipped. Felt almost like home. Only improvement point would be the parking: had the surprise to come back one night and the hotel parking was full. Had to drive... More

I visited friends in Budapest and was looking for a good hotel. Corinthia's convenient location and fair prices combined with its excellent reputation made the choice easy. I was not disappointed. The management upgraded me to a (junior) suite even though I was by myself and could not use all those rooms. However, the suite was great and it came... More

I truly love this hotel, we had access to the mezzanine floor which was an awesome place to hang out. There was food and drink available there all day, little areas to sit either at tables or on sofas. It over looked the lobby on both sides so while you're sitting there drinking wine and having a snack you watch... More

We travelled to Budapest recently and had a four day stay in this beautiful hotel. From our first footsteps inside the grand foyer till the afternoon of our departure every aspect of our stay was tailored towards the guests . Our room which was quite spacious. was on the executive floor with access to the executive club lounge. This proved... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
