We stayed at the Kalmar Pension over New Year's Eve. Its a family business so we didn't expect much in the way of service. We were mistaken. We ordered their pick up shuttle and we met by one of the owners. Very worth it. We asked for a room with a view of the bridge, which ended up being their...

The Kalmar Pension is in an excellent location for exploring Buda and Pest. Situated on the Buda side of the Danube on Gellert Hill it is two minutes away from the Gellert Spa baths. A 10 minute walk across the Liberty Bridge into Pest with The Great Market and many restaurants and cafes located right on the Pest side of...

Awesome place.. The owners, were wonderful .. My husband could not accompany us at the last moment so we called the owner from the airport.. I was travelling all alone with my two daughter 5 and 11 year old.. Not only the owner came to pick us up from the airport but made us comfortable by giving tits and bits...

I stayed there for a night. I actually intended to stay for a couple but after meeting the owner I changed my mind. On the phone his wife was offered me price of €55 per night without breakfast. Since the price was almost similar I have chosen to make the online booking because is more secure especially using my credit...

the photos from the internet were simply lovely, you could feel the familiar athmosphere. there was no doubt for me to try it. we had a room in the basement and that has nothing to do with the rooms shown on the website. the room was clean, but the furnitures were combined in a very interesting way, ex. the fridge...

The hotel is central near Gellert and the outdoor baths. We had quite a bit of difficulty getting in as the host wasn't answering the phone or door. There is parking at extra cost nearby. It's a beautiful old building which could be fantastic with more attention to detail. The breakfast was a little disorganised though plentiful. The room was...

My partner and I stayed in a suite here. Although the room was quite good and we were happy with the suite itself, we found it very difficult here as there is no real reception. The "reception" is the residence of the owner and often she is not there, so we had to try and communicate with the other members...

Excellent place nearby the city. Gellert mountain, spa and metro + tram connections near. Room is clean and OK, breakfast on separate price and kind and helpful hosts. Especially friendly dog, Sotsho! I recommend this place and hope to use its services myself later on.

Great location, great price, great villa, great breakfast, great service, great garden! Fresh, clean room with brand new bathtub. Relaxed, at-home atmosphere. Tip: Take the metro from the train station instead of a taxi. It's like 300Ft instead of 6000Ft.

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
