A very warm and friendly atmosphere. The pension has a garden that gives you the feeling that you are living away from the vibrant city center although it is only a few steps. The young host is a wonderful person, friendly, always ready to advise you about the sights of Budapest. I spent some wonderful days here and I left...

The place had been recommended, and although I was surpised by the number of stairs, the fact that the owner had claimed I had no booking (when I had a copy of the email from months before, confirming my booking!) and the icy - I don't just mean the weather - reception on the intercom when I asked for help...

We choose Kalmár Panzió originally by trip adviser reviews and weren't mistaken. Loved it, loved it, every bit of it. It is mansion that belonged to former primer minister Teleki, so it is marble and crystal everywhere. The location cannot be better, steps from the Liberty bridge and one of the best mineral spa - Gellert spa. The spa opens...

My travel buddy and I recently stayed at the Kalmar Panzio in Budapest and fell in love with the place as soon as we walked in! Eszter, the hotel manager was an amazing host who helped us with everything in regards to transfers, taxi's, breakfast, comfort and tours.. you name it and she will help you! The atmosphere of the...

Well, I would go back here anytime just for the atmosphere and soo nice owners!! It really does not feel like a hotel or pension, they are always talking to you, asking how you feel, make sure that everything is right. It was a short holiday with my girlfriend and these location was perfect, felt very romantic with that old...

We stayed here last August (2011) and I've been meaning to write a review since. I've finally got round to it as I look for other accommodation for a different break. My wife and I loved the Kalmar. Fantastic location, friendly accommodation and an amazing, authentically Hungarian Suite. I've seen negative reviews of the breakfast. I don't understand them, breakfast...

We recently stayed at the Kalmár Panzio and were overwhelmed by the wonderful accommodations. The location of the pension couldn’t be better, the room was large, quiet and beautiful, the owners were very friendly and helpful. The Kalmár is located right behind the landmark Gellért baths and a short 10 minute walk across the green bridge to the Great Market...

We enjoyed our stay just after Christmas, very friendly owner Eszter. Rooms very romantic, beautiful large topapartment. Budapest is beautiful city. We loved the thermal baths: Kiraly, Szecheniye and Gellert.

My friend and I stayed at Kalmar for 5 nights. Main reasons for my choice were its location and historical background. Both were above my expectations. The Pension is in a quiet neighborhood, surrounded with trees and is close to public transportation and a 24-hour shop. The history of the building itself and the antique furnitures were fascinating. It was...

I appreciate that every time I come here, the staff is attentive and helpful. Each time we come to Hungary we have chosen to stay at the Kalmar the last four years because of the location, the beautiful and spacious rooms, modern bathrooms and fantastic breakfasts! It's something we can count on! Also, I have needed laundry done and it...

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
